Knowns defend Title


Thursday Division 1
The Known Quantities and The Thirtysomethings squared off to decide the championship on Tuesday night. Both teams had chances early in the encounter but the deadlock was broken half way through the first half when Gordon Lynch scored for The Knowns with a superb strike. The Knowns scored a second a few minutes later but Luca Gastoldi gave The Thirtys some hope when he scored a fine goal just before the break. However that hope was short lived as Gordon Lynch scored a second super long rang goal to seal the win and the title for his team. The final score was 5-4.
With the pressure off, having secured the title, The Knowns, were outstanding in their match against The All Blacks which they won 7-3. Peter O Flynn notched a hat trick for the winners.
The Athletico PTF, Thirtysomethings encounter was a thriller, during which some marvellous goals were scored. Frank Hickey was outstanding for PTF and contributed a marvellous goal for his team. However the best goal of the match was that scored by Eamon Walsh for PTF with a powerful strike from twenty yards. The final score was 5-4 in favour of Athletico.
A typically well organised Ex Pats outfit worked very hard and just about deserved their 3-2 win against an under strength Os Navegantes. New boy Eoin Sheehy played very well for The Pats and scored a brace. As usual Paulo Santos was outstanding for Navegantes.

Thursday Division 2
Kieran McGuire was outstanding for South City during their encounter with Panicyakos and scored five goals during the 5-5 draw. With ten minutes left it looked like South City were going to finish the season on a high with their first victory of the season, but two late goals for Panicyakos scuppered the celebrations.
The high light of The BNY, Whitfords encounter was the marvellous long range goal scored by Dermot Herlihy for The Whitfords. The final score was 3-1 in favour of The Whitfords.
It looked like JT Specials would finish the season on a high note when they were two goals ahead with fifteen minutes left during their clash against CPL FC. However CPL scored four unanswered goals in the closing stages to win 5-3. Davis Ward scored a hat trick for the winners.
The Chancers finished their championship winning season in fine style with a 3-0 win against Apple Exiles. However the encounter was a lot closer than the score suggest. Apple made The Chancers work very hard for the win.

Wednesday Division 3
Frank Carley of BNY scored a magnificent last minute goal from 20 meters to earn his side a 2-2 draw with The Hot Shots. Anthony Dunne and Robert O Callaghan were on the mark for The Hot Shots while man of the match, Phil Carey scored BNYs first goal.
Sons of Pitches were crowned champions after their emphatic 4-1 win against Fritzl Palace. Jerry O Reilly was outstanding for the winners and scored three fine goals. Sean Tobin scored for Fritzl.
James Mealy scored four goals for Substandard Liege during their 7-2 win against O Donovan electrical. O Donovans, who were the league leaders up to last week, will be disappointed with this performance.

Wednesday Division 1
Temple Inn Dians defeated Nualight 5-2 in an encounter during which Kevin Garde was magnificent for Temple and scored a great hat trick. However the high light of the game was the goal scored for Nualight by Aaron Maguire when he skipped past three opponents before slotting the ball calmly into the corner of the goal.
Brian Wise scored a hat trick for The Kids and was generally outstanding during his teams 4-0 win against an under strength Racing.
Leonard Murphy scored an incredible five goals for Crofton during their comprehensive victory against Novartis.

Wednesday Division 2
Aaron Atkinson and Pat O Regan scored a hat trick a piece for Far From Athletic against United to finish their season on a high, as runners up for a third successive time. Hopefully they will finally win some silverware next season.
Hit and Miss and Balaga Tonga played a thriller during which Hit and Miss recovered a 3-0 deficit to draw 3-3. Dave Sinnott was the H and M hero when he scored two second half goals. Philip Sweetnam and Philip Cotter were best for Balaga.

Joes Upset O' Donovans


Wednesday Division 3
O Donovan Electrical were top of the table by a single point entering their encounter with The Average Joes. With Joe O Sullivan inspirational in defence and Wojtek outstanding in attack The Joes looked to be cruising to a comfortable win when they took a 3-0 lead. However with 10 minuted remaining O Donovans had recovered to 3-3. Then disaster struck for O Donovans when they conceded an OG. The Joes went on to win 5-3.
The Sons of Pitches took full advantage of O Donovans loss and comprehensively defeated The Hot Shots 8-1 to move into first place. The high light of this match was the marvellous goal scored by John Fahy for The Hot Shots.
Fritzl Palace are improving with every match. This week they had a well deserved win against BNY. The high light of this encounter was the superb goal scored by Andrew McDonald of BNY.

Wednesday Division 2
The Balaga Tongo, Dynamo Tonduff affair was deadlocked at 0-0 entering the last 10 minutes. Even though Balaga had dominated possession, Tonduff were always a threat and were becoming more and more dangerous as the match progressed. However it was Philip Sweetnam who scored the all important first goal for Balaga and they went on to win 2-0.
Liam Hennessy was outstanding in goal for Far From Athletic during their 4-1 win against Mercer. Mercer created numerous chances but were denied time and time again by Hennessy. The concession of a goal after two minutes to Patrick O Regan didn’t help Mercer.
United undid some splendid early work against table toppers douglasmortgage.ie by conceding a couple of soft goals half way through the first half. Douglas took advantage and went on to win the match 5-2 and the division title.

Wednesday Division 1
Paul Tierney was the man of the match for Crofton during their match against Nualight. The score was 3-0 in favour of Crofton at the break but Nualight were much better in the second period. The final score was 3-1.
The Kids maintained their 3 point advantage when they defeated Novartis 5-0. Oilskin McGrath and Colin Hammond notched a brace a piece for The Kids.
The Racing, Temple Inn match was a super game with more than a little skill on display. However the difference between the sides was the outstanding ability to convert chances by the Racing lads.

Thursday Division 2
BNYM were only a point behind table toppers, The Chancers entering this encounter so a win for either side would have made them favourites to take the title. The match was a thriller with the lead being swapped a number of times. BNYM were leading 4-3 with 10 minutes remaining. At this point Kevin Wilmot, who has been The Chancers outstanding player all season turned on the class and scored two great goals to win the match and title for his team.
Gerry Delea scored two goals late in the first half, the second of which was a great strike from 20 yards for Apple Exiles to break the deadlock in their game against The Whitfords. The encounter opened up in the second period and Apple went on to win 5-2.

Thursday Division 1
The Known Quantities kept up their defence of their title with a powerful display against an under strenth Ex Pats Athletic. Padraig McGovern and Gordon Lynch were lethal for the winners in attack.
Niall Kerrigan opened the scoring for The Thirtysomethings from the penalty spot to springboard his team on to a 4-2 win against The All Blacks, Luca Gastoldi was outstanding for the winners and contributed two fine goals.

Sons of Pitches Narrow The Gap

Wednesday Division 3
Sons of Pitches defeated Substandard Liege in a thriller 4-3 during which Tony O Donovan scored for Substandard direct from the kick off. The Sons of Pitches recovered and with Gerry O Reilly and Stephen Crowley in top form they moved to within a point of division leaders O Donovan Electrical.
Table Toppers, O Donovan Electric were defeated by Fritzl Palace 3-2 in a very entertaining match, but maintain a one point lead over their rivals Sons of pitches with two matches left. Daniel Gallagher’s and Killian Lynch’s goals put Palace 2-0 at the break. O Donovan’s didn’t concede without a fight, but in the end Palace held on for a 3-2 win.
The high light of a hard fought match between BNYM and The Average Joes was a cracking 20 yard drive by John O Donovan of The Average Joes to back of the net. The Joes won the encounter 5-2 with Vojtec getting the man of the match nod.

Thursday Division 2
The Chancers opened up a three point gap at the top of the division when they defeated Panicyakos 4-2. However, The Chancers didn’t have it all their own way. Panicyakos led early in the match when they scored two good goals through Seamus O Brien, from a free kick and Cuneyt Kahraman.
The Whitfords put a huge dent in CPL FCs title aspirations. Bertie Bateman was very impressive for The Whitfords and scored some marvellous goals for his team during their 4-1 victory. His second was a gem during which he and Cameron Espey combined superbly.
John Deveraux and Sean Tobin of BNY tormented The JT Special defence during an encounter which BNY won with plenty to spare.
South City got off to a great start in their match against Apple Exiles and raced into a 3-0 lead. However, Apple with Mark Ryan outstanding, slowly got the measure of their opponents and were ahead by half time, Apple eventually won the encounter comfortably.

Thursday Division 1
The All Blacks and The Ex Pats were deadlocked at 2-2 when The All Blacks goal keeper made a fantastic double save. The Ex Pats counter attacked from the rebound and scored the winner when Bill Henry superbly finished the move to win 3-2,
The Known Quantities continued their great run of victories with a comprehensive win against Athletico PTF. The high light of this encounter was the goal scored by Gordon Lynch from the half way line.
The Thirtysomethings had an impressive 7-4 win against an under strength Os Navegantes. Paulo Santos was again outstanding for the Portuguese lads and contributed two of his team’s scores. Graham Virgo and Luca Gastoldi scored a brace a piece for The Thirtys.

Wednesday Division 2
Far From Athletic kept the pressure on douglasmortgage.ie when they scored a very narrow win against Dynamo Tonduff. With the score tied a 1-1 in the dying minutes Tonduff hit the post from a powerful Dave Murphy strike. Aaron Atkinson scored for Far From from the ensuing counter attack to afford his team a 3-2 win.
Even though Hit and Miss were 1-0 ahead of douglasmortgage.ie at half time, they should have had a much lager lead considering their total domination. Douglas improved in the second period and the score was 1-1 entering the final ten minutes. However Hit and Miss imploded in the final minutes and lost the match 5-1.

Wednesday Division 1
Crofton employed counter attacking tactics to defeat Racing 6-2 in a match during which Racing had most of the possession. Stephen Crowley notched a hat trick for the winners while Leonard Murphy scored twice.
Call Daly was on song for Novartis during their 5-1 defeat of Nualight.
The Temple Inn fought bravely against The Kids and were ahead 4-3 early in the second half. However the class of The Kids eventually bore fruit and they went on to win 8-4.

CPL, Chancers Remain Joint Top



Thursday Division 2
Even though The Chancers dominated possession and had most of the goal scoring opportunities against CPL, their half time lead was the minimum. This was mainly due to the goal keeping exploits of Donal Flanagan. CPL increased their work rate and intensity in the second half and drew level when Donal Mulvahil scored an excellent goal. The final score was 2-2 and the teams remain dead locked at the top of the table.
The Apple Exiles, JT Specials was an excellent match which was decided by a great goal scored by Kieran Crowley for The Specials. The final score was 2-1 in favor of the JT Specials.
Colin Deevey notched a hat trick for BNYM FC against a spirited South City. Despite scoring a brace for South City Kieran McGuire was on the wrong side of a 6-3 defeat.
Panicyakos returned to winning waya when they defeated The Whitfords in a great game which was decided by a breakaway goal with five minutes remaining. Liam Kileen scored twice for the winners while Cameron Espey and Gavin Roser were on the mark for The Whitfords.


Thursday Division 1
The top of the table clash between The Thirtysomethings and The Known Quantities was an outstanding match. The Knowns edged ahead twice early in the encounter only to be hauled back almost immediately by The Thirtys. Gordon Lynch s cheeky goal direct from the kick off seemed to spur the Knowns on again and they went on to win 5-3. New comer Ben Duntan was exceptional for the Knowns.
The Ex Pats Athletic, Athletico PTF encounter was deadlocked at 0-0 until Tim O Connor scored a powerful header to give The Pats the advantage at half time. Tim scored a second mid way through the second period to secure the points for his team.
Os Navegantes defeated The All Blacks 6-4 in a very entertaining match, the result of which was in doubt until Man of the match Paulo settled the affair with his fourth goal in the dying seconds.
It looked like Navegantes would run riot when they ran into a four goal lead.. However The All Blacks got to within one of the Portuguese before Paulo scuppered the come back at the death.


Wednesday Division 1
Crofton defeated league leaders The Kids in a thrilling encounter during which the Crofton keeper was the man of the match. Three point blank saves and a brilliantly executed free kick by Paul Tierney helped Crofton to 2-0 half time lead. Even though The Kids dominated possession in the second period Crofton were the more likely team to score and when they increased their lead to three it looked like they had secured the win. However The Kids never conceded and when they scored two late goals a magnificent comeback was a huge possibility. Crofton held out for a deserved win and narrowed the gap between them and the Kids to three points.
Racing had a fine win 6-3 against an improving Nualight. The twin strike force of Padraig McGovern and Gordon Lynch were deadly for Racing and between them they scored four goals.
Temple Inn had a comprehensive win against Novartis. Rory Perry inflicted most of the damage with four goals.

Wednesday Division 2
Douglasmortgage.ie maintained their four point advantage at the top of the table after a comfortable 5-1 win against Dynamo Tonduff. The high light of this fixtures was the super individual goal scored by Ed Quirke for the winners.
Far From Athletic got off to a perfect start against Hit and Miss when Mark O Callaghan scored in the first minute. Far From played a super passing style and won the match 5-2.

Wednesday Division 3
The Average Joes were winning 2-0 against title challengers Sons of Pitches half way through the first half. However as the match progressed the quality of the Pitches soccer began to show. The Pitches had recovered the deficit with fifteen minutes to play but the battling spirit of The Joes enabled them to hold out for a draw.
O Donovan Electrical had a fine 4-1 win against The Hot Shots to stretch their lead at the top of the tabl., The high light of the match was the super volley scored by Trevor Deady for the winners.

Knowns win Top Of Table Clash

Thursday Division 1
The top of the table clash between The Knowns and Os Navegantes was a thriller during which both teams played brilliant football. Gordon Lynch edged The knowns ahead just before half time.  Helio, who was the man of the match scored for The Portuguese lads with a spectacular drive to level the scores before Padraig McGovern scored the winner for The Knowns and put them in prime position before the last few matches.
The Ex Pats had the worst possible start to their encounter with the Thirtysomethings when they conceded two goals in the first four minutes. However the spectacular goal scored by Bill Henry for The Pats made their evening worthwhile. The final score was 4-1 in favor of The Thirtysomethings.
Dave Dupuis was in top for The All Blacks during their encounter with Athletico PTF and contributed four of his teams goals. Jonathan O Callaghan also notched three for The Mount Oval lads during their 7-3 win.

Thursday Division 2
CPL FC maintained their challenge for division honors with a 6-3 win against Apple exiles. John Stringer and Donal Mulvahil impressed for the winners while Mark Ryan notched a brace for Apple.
Cameron Espey maintained his excellent scoring rate when he scored a fine hat trick against South City for The Whitfords. The Whitfords won this fixture comprehensively.
Philip Carey was too hot for The Panicyakos defense during their match against BNYM. Carey scored four good goals for BNYM. Panicyakos will be disappointed with this result having fared so well in recent weeks against the top teams in the division.

Wednesday Division 3
James Mealy and James McDonald were in great form for Substandard Liege during their encounter against The Hot Shots and scored three and two goals respectively. The pick of these was the volley by James Mealy with his right having set it up with his left foot.
O Donovan Electric maintained their slender lead at the top of the table when they defeated BNY 4-3 in a thrilling contest. Damien Kingston was outstanding for the winners while Jonathan Deveraux and Frank Carley caught the eye for BNY.

Wednesday Division 2
United scored a very impressive 5-2 win against Hit And Miss who had been on a great run of wins up to this week. Finbar Harrington was very impressive and scored a brace for the winners and was the difference between the sides.
Douglas Mortgage maintained their advantage at the summit of the division with a comprehensive win against The B69ers. Albert Hobbs and Ed Quirke notch a couple a piece for Douglas.
Far From Athletic raced into a 3-0 lead in the first twelve minutes against Balaga Tongo. However The Africans fought back valiantly but the three goals that they scored was matched by another three for Far From which resulted in a 6-3 win for Far From.
Dynamo Tonduff scored a well deserved 3-2 win against Mercer who seemed to have lost their way in recent weeks. Dave Murphy and Philip Brennan were particularly effective for Tonduff in what was a great all round team performance.

Wednesday Division 1
Leonard Murphy and Alan Forde scored two outstanding goals for Crofton in the first half during their encounter with The Temple Inn to give their team a 2-0 half time lead. Temple played much better in the second half but couldn’t recover the deficit. The final score was a 3-1 win for Crofton.
Gordon lynch and Padraig McGovern of Racing scored four and three respectively against Novartis in a one sided affair.
Despite being on the wrong side of a 5-2 defeat Nualight were outstanding against The kids. They were orgainised and disciplined in defense and always threatened in attack. They held the kids scoreless in the first half and it was only when they began to tire in the second period that the kids found the space to exploit.
