Korona Closing In On Title

Wednesday Div 1
League leaders Korona had a narrow win 6-5 over Racing Club in a very attacking game. This win puts the Polish lads within touching distance of another Footy title, and now all they need is a point in their remaining fixture against the Celts. Kris Pawlik was again excellent for Korona, as was goalkeeper Marcin Korona who made some excellent first half saves to keep Korona in the tie. Peter Fitzmaurice scored an excellent hatrick for an under strength Racing team who competed very well on the night.
The Celts gave their best performance of the season when they trounced Far From Athletic 5-2. Aaron O Sullivan was best for the Celts who put in an excellent team performance. John Doherty continued his excellent season for the winners as he also contributed largely in their win.

Wednesday Div 2
The Cuban Priests again proved that they were by far the strongest team in division 2 as they trounced Douglas Mortgage. Stephen O Donovan was best this week for the Priests and scored a hatrick as did Ben Ryan. The challenge of division 1 awaits the Priests if they are up for it.
Balaga Tonga had a superb 6-5 win over CUH in a very entertaining game. Philip Sweetman was Balaga’s star man and showed some class finishing in front of goal scoring 4 times. Rory Barry and Mark Foley each replied for CUH with a brace of gaols each.
Nualight played the better football and deserved their 7-5 win over Hit or Miss. Kieran Buckley scored a beautiful goal to seal the win late on for Nualight. Paul Richardson was again Hit or Miss’s best player and scored a hatrick  Jack Maguire was also in top form for Nualight who are now in pole position to finish runners up as they are 2 points ahead of CUH going into the last fixture against the Wilton lads.

Wednesday Division 3
The Baggios had an excellent 6-2 win over already crowned champions M&P O’Sullivans. Daniel Lynch was brilliant between the sticks for O’Sullivans who were very much under strength on the night and saved the score from being a cricket score. Dave Murphy proved to be the difference between the sides as he was excellent in midfield for Dynamo Tonduff as they overcame Real Soso Bad by a 4-1 scoreline.
FC Coping Badly coped very well with Kurtz Wallopers as they beat then convincingly 9-3. Martin Hallahan was best for Coping and scored a hatrick as did his team mates Rob Dwyer and John O’Brien.

Wednesday Div 4
Rosies kept the pressure on Fritzl Palace with a win over the Average Joes and this pressure worked as Palace dropped a point in their tie with Crystal Fallace. This now means that Rosies, who are level on points with Fritzl Palace, but are behind on the head to head goal difference, must take all 3 points in their remaining game and hope that the Inbetweeners take something from their tie with Rosies in the last series of games on Wednesday. Dave O’Rourke scored a beauty for Average Joes, but were outclassed by Rosies who had top scorer Martin Higgins again amongst the goals.
Fritzl Palace did well to come back from 3-1 down and left it until the last minute to draw level with a goal from Declan Cussons. This crucial goal was a great for boost for Fritzl Palace who should do the business next week against the Inbetweeners to win this division.
The inconsistent Sub Standard Liege put in their best performance of the season with a big win over the Inbetweeners.  James Mealy and Phil Wade each with a hatful of goals for Liege.
