Footy
Report Wednesday 18th Sept
Division

Roco
Risers got off to a great start in their first Footy season with a
5-4 win over the Angry Badgers. This was a cracking game that was end
to end for the hour with the lead exchanging on a few occasions. Mike
Holland opened the scoring for this very young side after 7 minutes
with a low right footed drive. However the 2 best goals of the week
were also scored in this game, Cal O'Mahony scored with an unstopable
rasping half volley into the top corner after a chipped corner to the
far touchline and Daniel Santry replied with a brilliant shot from
25yards for the Badgers. These 2 sides were full of energy and a draw
would have probably been a fair result, but up stepped Andrew “Dogzy”
Dorgan to score the last ditch winner for Roco after a great run out
of defence and pass by man of the match Ryan O'Brien after the
unlucky Badgers had just hit the post at the other end.
Missing FC also picked up 3
points after a 4-2 win over Rosies. Jurgen Bukowski scored twice for
Missing. Eoin Moynihan was best for Rosies who took a while to settle
into the game.
Brian
Beale scored with a shot that almost burst the net for Rosies for the
games highlight.
Schuff FC also got off to a
flyer with a 3-0 win over Balaga Tongo. Aidan McGuinness proved the
match winner for Schuff who look like a side who are well organised
and look like they have been playing together for a while. Balaga
were full of energy but lacked a player in midfield to organise their
passing game. McGuinness opened the scoring midway through the first
half for Schuff and Brendan Buckley and then Kevin Fitzgerald went on
to complete the route.
Division
1
Ezy
FC last seasons division 1 winners on Thursdays, switched to
Wednesdays for this season and took off where they left off with a
4-1 win over Sliabh na mBan. Peter Fitzmaurice scored a brace for EZY
who came from a goal down, but were given a good hard game by na mBan
for 45 minutes but the younger legs of Ezy took over for the last
quarter when they ran in 3 goals.
Baggios
and Albino Leffe who were 2 late additions to division 1, played out
a good game , but the Baggios had too much class in their side and
won easily in the end by a 7-1 scoreline. Wayne O Callaghan scored a
hatrick for the Baggios, who also had Ben Ryan in defence in
excellent form. This Baggios side look like they will be able to test
Ezy Fc and should also be contenders for the title.
Fritzl
Palace had a good 4-2 win over old rivals AC Standard. Standard had a
poor start to the game and and went 4-0 down and paid for this dearly
as they left themselves with too much to do in the 2nd
half. Killian Lynch was the star man for Palace and scored a hatrick
for this industrious hard working side.
Dynamo
Tonduff and Deportivo played out a hard fought but fair encounter
that ended in a 3-3 draw. Michael Murphy scored twice for Tonduff
while Mark Kennifick, Bernard Parkes and Martin Hallahan were on the
mark for Deportivo.
