CSKA Return To Winning Ways

Wednesday Div 1
Glasgow Septic and CUH played out a highly entertaining game that ended in a 2-2 draw. Conor McArdle scored with a last gasp equaliser for Septic only seconds after Rory Barry scored with a cracking drive from a tight angle for CUH. This seemed like a winner for CUH, but Septic drove on to the final whistle to be rewarded with a deserved point from McArdle’s goal.
CSKA Tongo were back to winning ways after they beat Fritzl Palace 7-4, but were made to work hard for the win by an industrious Palace side driven on by Mike Wren. Palace who were 5-1 down at one stage in the game never gave up and brought it back to 5-4 with a hatrick by Dan Gallagher. But Joe Dempsey came up with late goals for Tongo to seal the points as Palace pushed forward for the equaliser.
Hit or Miss were in excellent form showing some excellent teamwork and hard work when they did not have the ball, as they beat Racing 7-3. Fiachra O’Driscoll and Podge Butler were their main men on the night and both players scored a brace each. Paul Richardson was also excellent in midfield for the winners. Peadar Horgan and Jason Lake were best for Racing.

His second goal was a memorable one, as he volleyed home a clearance from his own goalkeeper. Darragh & Patrick O’Regan always looked dangerous for the Baggios, but the more experienced and polished Booze Crew held out for a win and they may yet have a say in where the title goes.

Wednesday Div 2

Brian Beale scored an excellent hatrick for Rosies to win a close game that finished 3-2 against the Lemmons. Beale’s 2nd goal was an absolute peach, as he made a great run and played a neat one two before finishing to break the Lemmons rearguard. The Lemmons were a little unlucky to be on the losing side Shane Brown and Trevor O’Connell were on the scoresheet for the losers.

Ezy Extend Lead

Thursday Division 1
Ezy FC maintained their great start to the season gaining another 3 points after a good win over Footy newcomers Sliabh na mBan. The experienced Seamus Langford and John Browne and Joe McAuliffe had their Sliabh na
mBan side well organised but came up short against a slick Ezy outfit, who had Dave Johnson and Steve Dwyer in great form. Ezy are now 6 points clear and are looking like champions after week 6.
Shane Cahill came up with a late double to give the Boothouse Bingers a 3-2 victory and all 3 points over last seasons champions the All Blacks in a cracking game. The All Blacks were a man short in the first half did well to be 2-1 ahead at halftime. Niall and Brian Murphy were on the score sheet for the All Blacks.
Graham Virgo was back to his best form as he helped the Thirtysomethings to a 5-2 win over the Bandits. The Somethings had a bit too much football in their side for the Bandits who are still getting used to each their in their side.
Keith O’Donoghue scored twice for the Bandits.

down a well organised O’Higgins team who ran riot in the 2nd half. Chris Baker and Colm Nugent both hit a brace of goals as O’Neill helped himself to a hatrick.

Joe Dempsey, Philip Cotter and Philip Sweetman all starred for CSKA as they maintained their 5 point gap over CUH. Sweetman continued his remarkable scoring form and hit a hatrick, as did Dempsey. But they were made work all the way by a hard working Booze Crew side that had Martin Deady in top form.
CUH came from a goal down with 5 minutes to go to gain all 3 points in an excellent 4-3 win over Racing. Padraig McGovern was again Racing’s goal scorer. Ivan Weir was on the mark again for the Wilton boys and scored a brace.

Tim O Connor scored the only goal of the game for AC Standard as they beat Crystal Fallace in a very hard fought encounter and should now be favourites to go on and win the division after this win over their main rivals. If Rosies continue their hot streak in front of goal they might also have a say in this division.
A tremendous volley from the ever reliable John O’Brien set FC Coping Badly on their way, who went on to win 4-0 against an under strength Lemmons side. Mark Kennifick was in brillant form and scored a hatrick.

CSKA Tongo Look Good

Wednesday Div 1
CSKA Tongo look like they will be the team to beat in this division as they overcame a strong Baggios side by 5 goals to 2. Philip Sweetman was again a handful for the Baggios defence as he scored 4 of his sides 5 goals. With Joe Dempsey and Philip Cotter running their midfield, John Duggan marshalling the defence and the reliable Damien Kennedy in goal, this Tongo side will be hard to stop this season.
Racing Club stay 2nd on goal difference after they also had a fine win, coming from 4-1 down at half time to beat Hit or Miss 7-4 with 6 unanswered goals in the 2nd half. It was a definite game of 2 halves as Hit or Miss totally dominated the first half and Racing did likewise in the 2nd. Jurgen Burowski and Paul Richardson were best for Hit or Miss and were on the scoresheet. Edward Noonan and Pedar Horgan and Jason Lake in defence were best for Racing in their 2nd half revival. Padraig McGovern scored a late brace late to seal 3 important points for Racing.

Wednesday Div 2
AC Standard had a tough opening half against an Avengers side they would have been expected to dominate. However a cracking volley on the turn from an acute angle from Tim O Connor opened the door for AC Standard who then went on to dominate the 2nd half. O’Connor’s overall display was excellent and he scored 4 times.
FC Coping Badly and Crystal Fallace played out a hard fought 1-1 draw. John O’Brien scored the opening goal of the game and Robbie Doyle was in brilliant form in goal for Coping Badly but was unable to stop Pat O Regan from scoring a late penalty to earn a share of the spoils for Fallace.
Rosies had a good 4-1 win over the Lemmons. The addition of the young and energetic Dylan O’Brien added to the experienced seasoned campaigners in the Rosies side should pay dividends. Kieran Hurley came up with the killer 3rd goal for Rosies which sealed the game.
This division should prove to be tight and its hard at this early stage to pick a favourite for the title.
