CSKA Crowned Champions

Wednesday Division 1
CSKA Tongo were crowned champions in their first season as they overcame Racing Club 4-1 in a winner take all clash in the last game of the season. CSKA got their tactics right this time around as Racing, who had beaten Tongo 6-2 earlier in the season, normally play deep and play for the fast counter attack, were caught a bit off guard when CSKA seemed to adopt the same tactic. This tactic paid off as they went in front after 15 minutes when MVP nominee Philip Cotter finished off a fast break move. Padraig McGovern equalised for Racing, through a powerful shot for Racing and the sides were nicely poised 1-1 at the break. However Tongo had the edge in the 2nd period as they showed superior ability to hold on to the ball in the final 3rd of the pitch, where they found a few gaps and scored 3 times through John Duggan and Andrew Daunt (2).
Edward Noonan was excellent for Racing on the night as was Philip Cotter for the newly crowned champions.
Baggios saved their best performance of the season as they easily overcame Hit or Miss.
Tom McCarthy and Darragh O’Regan were too hot to handle for an under strength Hit or Miss side. Ronan Sherman also showed some creative touches in the Baggios midfield.
CUH and Fritzl Palace both had walkovers and played out a 2-2 entertaining friendly.
Dan Gallaher scored twice for Palace. Gary Kearney and man of the match Gavin Summers were the CUH scorers.

Wednesday Division 2
Crystal Fallace were crowned Champions with a week to spare as they beat the Lemmons 6-2. Pat O Regan who this season has walked away with the Golden Boot scored 4 times and was very impressive in doing so. Con Creedon who has had an excellent season for Fallace gave another very solid performance for the newly crowned Champions.
Rosies scuppered AC Standards chances of taking the fight for honours to the last week by holding them to a 2-2 draw, and in doing so handed the title to Fallace. Colin Murphy was man of the match in midfield for Rosies and scored the Carrigaline lads 2nd goal. Rob Doherty scored Standard’s late equaliser.
MVP Nominee John O Brien was again in top form for FC Coping Badly as they beat the Avengers 5-1. However the game was tighter than the scoreline suggests and only 3 late goals from Mark Kennifick, Martin Hallahan and O’Brien secured the points.

Thursday Division 1
Ezy FC took the title here in another dramatic last 15 minutes. They drew 2-2 with the Boothouse Bingers and finished 1 point ahead of last seasons Champions the All Blacks. The All Blacks who were playing at the same time on the adjacent pitch needed to win and hope that Ezy FC would lose, and they also needed a 4 goal swing to make up the goal difference. It was looking good for them with 10 minutes to go as they were leading Sliabh na mBan  4-2, and Ezy were losing 2-1 to the Bingers, but a late goal by Golden Boot winner Dave Johnson gave Ezy the point they needed and the title. Martin Lyons was the star man for Ezy on the night and fitted seamlessly into their midfield this season.
The Bandits overcame Apple Exiles who produced a gallant effort with only 6 players, but tired towards the end and conceded late goals. Keith O’Donoghue was best for the Bandits.

Thursday Division 2
Congratulations to O’Higgins FC who were crowned Division 2 Champions, also in their maiden season, after a really tough 1-1 draw with Sons of Pitches. The Pitches went into this final fixture 2 points behind O’Higgins and needing a win for honours. After 20 minutes Chris Baker was quickest to latch onto a loose ball outside the box and drove home the opener for O’Higgins to put them firmly in the driving seat. Danger man and top scorer for O’Higgins Sean O Neill, was well marshalled by the Pitches, who worked hard and got their reward midway through the 2nd half when Alan O’Sullivan scored a deserved equaliser. This led to a high tension and testing time for the referee for the last 15 minutes, where a goal for the Pitches would have given them the title. But O’Higgins defended well where Paul Cashman was excellent and they held on for the win.
Ciaren McArtan was the best player on the pitch as he led the Flying Column to a comfortable 7-1 win over Men Utd, who were only a goal down at the break and were well in the game. However some mistakes by the Men Utd keeper led to a rather one sided 2nd half where Alan Mullery and McArtan were very impressive.
JT Specials drew 6-6 with the Whitfords in a very open and attacking game for the last game of the season. Gavin Rosser and Rob Carpenter both shared hatricks. Balaga Tongo and Paniteastcork also play out an exciting 4-4 draw to bring this Footy Autumn 2012 season to a close.

Wednesday Division 2 - 19th Dec
Champions Crystal Fallace put the icing on the cake as they beat nearest rivals AC Standard comprehensively. MVP nominee Bill Henry was excellent between the sticks for Standard once again and only for some wonderful saves the score would have been much more. Darragh O Regan showed once again that he is a top division Footy Player when he scored 4 of Fallace’s 6 goals. Paul Kilcoyne and Kevin Broderick scored 2 wonderful goals for Standard but they were totally outclassed by the deserved champions.
Andy O Mahony, normally a solid defender, was deployed  at centre forward for the Lemmons and it worked a treat he scored 3  times to help the Lemmons to a 4-3 victory over FC Coping Badly in a hard fought but very sporting game.
Rosies and The Avengers played out another tight game, that finished 1 a piece. Dean Long and Ronan Farrally shared 2nd half goals. Farrally had put Rosies up with a neat header after a long throw by Paddy Cronin. Long equalised with a lovely half volley after some good work by the hard working Joey Herrity. A draw being a fair result.

CSKA And Racing To Face Off In Winner Take All

Wednesday Div 1
CSKA Tongo and Racing both completed good wins to stay top of the pile and now their eagerly awaited last game of the season awaits, where whoever wins will take the title. CSKA are 2 points clear so a draw will do them to seal it. Racing will go into the clash as  slight underdogs but will take great confidence from an excellent 5-0 win over a decent Baggios side. Edward Noonan and Pedar Horgan were excellent for Racing as they have been all season and were Racing’s scorers, Noonan with a hatrick and Horgan with a brace, both being beautiful goals.
A strong CSKA squad beat an under strength Hit or Miss side 6-3 to stay on course. John Duggan was brilliant in defence for the league leaders who put in an excellent all round footballing display. Joe Dempsey (2), O’Malley, Ross, Sweetman and Cotter were the CSKA scorers. Phil Wade scored the goal of the evening with a bullet header for Hit or Miss for the games highlight.
CUH maintained 3rd spot with a 6-4 win over Glasgow Septic and then beat Hit or Miss 4-2 in Mondays make up game after the cancelled fixture 2 weeks ago due to a frozen pitch.
Rory Barry was in fine form for CUH scoring twice in both games. Denis O Mahony was also in top form for CUH, pulling the strings in their midfield. Shane Fitzgerald scored a memorable goal, a volley direct from a throw in the Septic fixture.

Wednesday Division 2
Crystal Fallace stayed on course for their first Footy title with an excellent win over the quickly improving Avengers. Darragh O’Regan was brightest for Fallace scoring twice in a man of the match display. This fixture would have been a comfortable win for Fallace earlier in the season but Dean Long and Joey Herrity have organised the Avengers well of late and they are not a push over any longer.
AC Standard beat the Lemmons 3-1 to stay in 2nd spot and still in with a chance of honours going into the final 2 weeks of this division. Bill Henry was again in excellent form for AC in goal, but Standard’s best player was Cian O Mahony who was excellent in defence and scored with a tremendous drive for their 3rd goal to seal the points. James Hardy was the Lemmons lone scorer.
Rosies and FC Coping Badly played out an exciting 3-3 draw. The experienced finisher Kieran Hurley scoring twice for Rosies to put them 3-1 ahead, but Coping Badly
battled back with John O’Brien in superb form, scoring with 2 minutes to go and then Alan Murphy scored with a last gasp equaliser for a deserved share of the spoils.

O'Higgins and Sons Of Pitches - Neck And Neck

Thursday Div 2
O’Higgins FC and Sons of Pitches continued their good form with wins over Men Utd and the Flying Column respectively and the showdown between them on the last week of the season awaits. This fixture will be on the 13th of December and should be a cracker. O’Higgins centre forward Sean O Neill who tops the Golden Boot standings in this division was on the mark again for the leaders scoring twice. O’Neill was well marshalled by John Ahern in the Men Utd defence but got a sniff of goal on a couple of occasions and took his chances well. Sean O Connor scored an excellent individual goal for Men Utd, who dominated the first 15 minutes but did not convert their chances. They were a bit unlucky as they hit the post twice and these missed chances came back to haunt them as O’Neill and Cormac Nugent converted in the 2nd half to seal the points for O’Higgins.
The Sons of Pitches had a rather easy 5-0 win over the Flying Column in a one sided affair. Michael Deasy was brilliant for the pitches and was on the scoresheet as was James O’Loughlin who hit a brace, one of which was the games highlight, being a shot from a very acute angle.
Fit again Cameron Espey led the Whitfords to a 6-2 win over Balaga Tonga scoring twice. Kevin O Connell also scored a brace for the evergreen Whitfords.
Panathieastcork beat the JT Specials 4-0 and never looked in trouble dominating proceedings from the start. James Daly opened the scoring with an early goal for Panic and Gavin Chesby ran the game in midfield for the winners. Panathieastcork may yet have a say in where the title ends up as they play the Pitches this coming Thursday in the penultimate game of the season.

Thursday Div 1
Keith O Donovan was star man for the All Blacks as they cruised to victory over the Bandits. His vision in the All Blacks midfield was excellent as he picked out some beautiful passes for his forwards to score. Peter Downey, who was on the end of most of them was clinical in finishing scoring 5 times.
Ezy FC also had a big win over the Net Busters who never recovered after going behind to 2 early goals from Kevin Murphy. Steve Dwyer led the way for Ezy and was brilliant in midfield setting up goals for Dave Johnson and Brian Lyons.
Apple Exiles put in a solid performance beating Sliabh na mBan 6-3. Ronan Geary, who normally plays as a striker, played in defence for the Exiles and was very excellent making some important tackles when the game was tight in the first half. The Exiles led 1-0 at half time through a well taken Gary Murphy goal. Jason Galway was also excellent for Apple. Seamus Langford did well for Sliabh na mBan.
Game of the week went to the 30 Somethings and the Boothouse Bingers who played
out an excellent game with the 30’s coming narrowly out on top. Jake McAuliffe scored 2 late goals for the Somethings to seal the points after coming from 2 nil down. Shane Cahill and David James were both excellent for the Bingers, with James scoring with a rasping shot to open the scoring.

Racing Superb Against CUH

Wednesday Division 1
Racing Club produced their best performance of the season as they beat a strong CUH side 7-2. It was a tighter game than the scoreline suggests, but Racing seemed to want the points more from the kick off as they were the first to every ball. Racing defender Jason Lake who has improved so much as a player over the years in Footy was again in brilliant form and scored a wonderful individual solo effort in to equalise a Brian Crowley opener for CUH. Edward Noonan and Pedar Horgan in the Racing midfield never left this good footballing CUH side settle on the ball and pounced all the 50/50 balls. The very skilful Footy newcomer Jason Sexton was always a threat for CUH but Racing took their chances well and deserved the valuable 3 points.
Leaders CSKA Tongo also had a very valuable win as they beat the Booze Crew 6-3, to remain 2 points clear of Racing, who they have to play in the last game of the season. Philip Sweetman was back to his best, producing another master class in finishing, scoring 5 of their 6 goals, bring his total in 11 games to an incredible 29 goals.
Hit or Miss had a narrow win over Fritzl Palace. Seamus Daly did not deserve to be on the losing side was excellent for Palace and led their fight to comeback after falling 3 goals behind, with 2 of the goals being og’s.
Baggios overcame Glasgow Septic in another game that ended up being close after the Baggios led 5-0 at halftime. Ronan Sherman was man of the match for Baggios scoring once and setting up 2 others. Mark O Connor and Conor McArdle were on the mark for Septic with a brace each.

Wednesday Division 2
FC Coping threw a spanner in the works in this division as they beat leaders AC Standard who now occupy 2nd spot. John O’Brien was the star man for Coping Badly once again scoring a hatrick, the first goal being the most important as it was just before the half time whistle. Bill Henry had made some excellent saves for Standard to keep the game tight, but the gaps appeared in their defence as they pushed for the equaliser and O’Brien capitalised for Coping.
Crystal Fallace beat Rosies 4-1 to go top for the first time this season and must now be favourites to win the title with 4 games left. Daniel Lynch was top man for Fallace who were missing the reliable defender Denis Cullinane through injury. Steve Kelly scored a brace for Fallace, while Colin Murphy scored for Rosies.
The Avengers won 2 games in a row, beating the Lemmons 5-3, jumping off the bottom on the table in the process. Joey Herrity and Dean Long were on the mark for this quickly improving Avengers side who are working hard in recent weeks, tracking back to defend when needed and thus improving their points tally.

JT Specials Unlucky to Loose To Sons Of Pitches

Thursday Division 1
Last seasons champions the All Blacks had a great result as they beat league leaders Ezy FC 3-2 and cut their lead at the top of the table to just 3 points. 2 decisive goals from Killian Hogan did the trick for the All Blacks in a very tight and hard fought game.
Steve Dwyer and Billy Lyons were Ezy’s goal scorers.
Apple Exiles continued their impressive improvement as they had a marvellous win over the Thirtysomethings. Apple who were 2 goals down inside the first minute, did really well to come back and win 4-2. John Browne was top class in defence for Sliabh na mBan as they ousted the Boothouse Bingers by 7 goals to 3. The pick of the goals was a 20 yard volley from Joe McAuliffe, who was also Man of the Match. Quintan Gambora made some top class saves in goal for the Bandits, but was only able to help his side to keep the scoreline respectable as they lost 3-1 to the Net Busters. Tim Crowley was impressive for The Net Busters as was Paul Sexton who has a great eye for a goal and was always a threat to the Bandits defence.

Thursday Division 2
It was a similar story in the game between O’Higgins FC and Panathieastcork, as Jimmy Hallihan was in tremendous form for the East Cork lads and made a succession of excellent saves to keep his side in with a chance until the final whistle. Sean O Neill was again O’Higgins’s best player and scored their 2 goals in a narrow 2-1 win that moves them into 2nd spot.

Conor McArdle scored with a last gasp equaliser for Septic only seconds after Rory Barry scored with a cracking drive from a tight angle for CUH. This seemed like a winner for CUH, but Septic drove on to the final whistle to be rewarded with a deserved point from McArdle’s goal.
CSKA Tongo were back to winning ways after they beat Fritzl Palace 7-4, but were made to work hard for the win by an industrious Palace side driven on by Mike Wren. The Lemmons were a little unlucky to be on the losing side Shane Brown and Trevor O’Connell were on the scoresheet for the losers.

Ezy Extend Lead

Thursday Division 1
Ezy FC maintained their great start to the season gaining another 3 points after a good win over Footy newcomers Sliabh na mBan. The experienced Seamus Langford and John Browne and Joe McAuliffe had their Sliabh na

CSKA Tongo Look Good

Wednesday Div 1
CSKA Tongo look like they will be the team to beat in this division as they overcame a strong Baggios side by 5 goals to 2. Philip Sweetman was again a handful for the Baggios defence as he scored 4 of his sides 5 goals. With Joe Dempsey and Philip Cotter running their midfield, John Duggan marshalling the defence and the reliable Damien Kennedy in goal, this Tongo side will be hard to stop this season.

However a cracking volley on the turn from an acute angle from Tim O Connor opened the door for AC Standard who then went on to dominate the 2nd half. O’Connor’s overall display was excellent and he scored 4 times.
FC Coping Badly and Crystal Fallace played out a hard fought 1-1 draw. John O’Brien scored the opening goal of the game and Robbie Doyle was in brilliant form in goal for Coping Badly but was unable to stop Pat O Regan from scoring a late penalty to earn a share of the spoils for Fallace.
Rosies had a good 4-1 win over the Lemmons. The addition of the young and energetic Dylan O’Brien added to the experienced seasoned campaigners in the Rosies side should pay dividends. Kieran Hurley came up with the killer 3rd goal for Rosies which sealed the game.
This division should prove to be tight and its hard at this early stage to pick a favourite for the title.

Anascaul Salvage A Point

Thursday Division 2
Red Bull Anascaul were two points clear of Panathieastcork at the top of the table entering this weeks matches, so a win against bottom team Men United was critical to maintain their position at the top. However the Anascaul lads played very poorly by their standards in the first half and found themselves trailing 3-0 at half time. Dan Gallagher kept his cool and rounded The Red Bull Keeper to score a terrific goal to put Men United one up after ten minutes. Not long later Steve Crowley scored with a superb header and just before half time Mick Ryan scored a rocket after receiving a great pass from Padraig O Riordan. Red Bull regrouped after half time and dominated the second half and when they equalised with ten minutes remaining it looked like they would eventually take the three points. However Men United held on for a draw.
The Sons Of Pitches, who still have title aspirations, took on The Whitfords this week. Cormac Crowley scored a great early goal for The Pitches after a great turn and shot into the corner. The score remained 1-0 until half time. Berie Bateman who is having a marvellous season for the Whitfords was always a handful and scored two goals in the second half to dent The Pitches’ title hopes.

Thursday Division 1
Go With The Flow conceded two bad early goals during their encounter with The Thirtysomethings which proved very costly as there were only two goals separating the sides in the end. Steve Dwyer was the star man for Ezy in their match against Ex Pats Athletic. He scored six of his teams eight goals.

Wednesday Division 1
The Tools and Booze Crew tie lived up to expectations and produced lots of quality and skill ending in a 5-3 win for the Tools. Colin Hammond’s finishing  was superb with 2 late goals for the Tools. Kevin Murphy was also excellent in midfield for the Tools and made it 3-3 mid way through the 2nd half with an excellent strike.
Racing Club had Edward Noonan in their midfield and Fergal Lynch in defence in flying form, as they overcame the Chancers 3-1. Jason O Connell replied late on for the Chancers to make the scoreline more respectful.

Wednesday Division 2
The 6 man team of Novartis produced a battling but quality performance to beat Douglas Mortgage to finally put an end to their title chances. Pat Crotty was excellent and scored twice for Novartis. Hit and Miss stay in contention with a 6-2 win over Balaga Tonga. CUH did likewise and can still oust The Baggios as they play them in the final game next Wednesday where the winner will take the title. CUH are 3 points behind Baggios but a win will be enough to secure their 2nd footy title as they are ahead on the head to head having won 4-2 earlier in the season.

Cuban Priests, Tools Thriller Ends In Draw

Wednesday Div 1
The Tools and the Cuban Priests played out one of the hardest fought games in recent Footy history and it ended all square, a fair 1-1 draw.
Both teams played at a very high intensity and there was some quality football by both sides. Defender Ross Flood was best for the Priests and his ability to read the game got his side out of trouble on a few occasions. He also popped up with the equalising goal with a well struck free kick to cancel out Michael Doody’s first half opener for the Tools.
This draw was the result that the Booze Crew were looking for as they earlier had lost out on the chance to go top of the table after a surprise loss to Racing Club. However with 3 games to go, and the Priests leading by 2 points, any one of these 3 sides could win it.
James O’Sullivan scored a hatrick for Racing as they produced their best performance of the season to beat an under strength Booze Crew side.

Wednesday Div 2
Novartis played the best they played all season and had an excellent 3-1 win, coming from behind to beat CUH. The Wilton lads might regret this defeat, as they are only 2 point behind the Baggios and must still play them in the last game of the season. Ronan Cullinane was brilliant for Novartis and scored 2 cracking goals.
Douglas Mortgage took all 3 points, as expected over the struggling Avengers. Eric Cotter was again amongst the goals for Douglas. The leaders, the Baggios had another good win to stay top of the pile, beating Balaga Tonga 7-4. The game highlight was a great goal from Baggios keeper Daniel Lynch who scored from his own area with a beautifully struck chip.

Wednesday Div 3
The tie between Reardons and Real Soso Bad was a close affair, finishing 5-4 to Reardons. Despite a brilliant solo effort from Stephen O’Riordain for Real, Reardons had just about enough in the tank to hold off Real after a double from both Philip Sweetman and Tom Long.
The Average Joes had to use all their experience in beating Dynamo Tonduff. The scoring machine that is Eric Montgomery, was again used to good effect, scoring twice and proved the difference between the sides.
Lennons Lemmons also play their best football of the season to beat a strong Crystal Fallace side 4-2. A hatrick and a superb display by well known Hockey player Andrew Daunt saw off Fallace. Perhaps he should consider switching to soccer after some of his recent high quality performances at Footy.
Sub Standard Liege had a hard earned 4-3 win over FC Coping Badly. They were 2-1 up at half time only to concede twice and looked like losing only to battle hard in the last 10 minutes and earn all 3 points. John O Brien was best for Coping Badly while Kevin Heelin and Pat Coleman were on form for Liege

CUH Win Top Of Table Clash

Wednesday Division 2
Old rivals and joint table toppers CUH and douglasmortgage.ie faced off in what could be the decisive match of the campaign. Both teams had numerous chances but it was CUH who converted. Ivan Weir scored two superb goals for CUH and when Denis Mahony scored a third it looked like the fixture was decided. However two late goals by Erik Cotter gave Douglas some hope entering the final five minutes, but CUH held out for a deserved win. This win puts CUH firmly in the driving seat entering the final few matches.
The Nualight, Balaga Tongo match was deadlocked at 0-0 at half time. However the second half was a much livelier affair. Bernard Ahern of Nualight scored two fine goals as did Dave Doyle for Balaga. It was looking like the final result would be a 4-4 draw until Kieran Buckley scored a dramatic last minute winner for Nualight.
Joe Herrity was the man of the match in The Avengers, Novartis encounter, however his team lost 5-2. Roy McCarthy and Erik Lynch were among the scorers for Novartis while Herrity and Conor long scored for The Avengers.

Wednesday Division 3
The Average Joes started their top of the table clash with Substandard Liege in spectacular fashion when they scored an excellent goal by Erik Montgomery after two minutes. The Joes were completely on top in the first half. Montgomery was a threat every time he got the ball and Joe O Sullivan was outstanding in defence. They were worth their 4-0 lead entering the final 20 minutes. However slowly but surly Substandard began to get a grip on the match and with five minutes remaining there was only a single goal separating the sides. In the closing minutes both the goal frame and a heroic keeper came to The Joes aid as they just held on to win 4-3.
The Dynamo Tonduff, FC Coping Badly match was a thriller. The score was 4-3 in favour of Coping as the final whistle approached. However Dave murphy finished off a man of the match performance and a hat trick for Tonduff by scoring the equaliser in the last minute. John O Brien scored twice for coping.
John Mangan was outstanding for Crystal Fallice in their match against Real Sosobad and contributed 2 marvellous goals to his sides 3-0 win.

Wednesday Division 1
The top of the table encounter between The Booze Crew and The Cuban Priests was expected to be a thriller and it didn’t disappoint. This was a high tempo match with both teams attacking at every opportunity. The score was tied at 3-3 with three minutes to go when Mark Murphy outjumped the Booze Crew goal keeper to give his team a 4-3 lead with a sensational header. However The Priests joy was very short lived as The Booze  Crews Ian Stapleton equalised with a super strike right at the end of the match. A draw was a fair result and keeps both teams in contention.
The other title contenders in this division had an easy 7-0 win against The Chancers. Michael Doody was outstanding and contributed 4 goals.

All Blacks Stretch Lead

Thursday Division 1
The All Blacks continued their tremendous form this season with a convincing 6-2 win against a strong Go With The Flow side. Rob Healy and Brian Murphy scored two fine goals for the Blacks in the first half to give them a 2-0 lead at the interval. However Vinny Motherway ran the show in the second half and scored twice to help the Rochestown lads to a 6-2 win. Gavin Dempsey scored a brace for Go With The Flow.
Reigning Champions The Thirtysomething were four points behind The All Blacks entering this series of matches and needed a win this week to keep in touch. However they encountered a resolute Ex Pats team who defended valiantly throughout.  Rob Cameron (Ex Pats) and Shane Donoghue (Thirtysomethings) exchanged goals and with minutes left it looked like a draw was on the cards. However in the dying minutes Jake McAuliffe (Thirtysomethings) had a great effort hit the post and Bill Henry(Ex Pats) made a couple of outstanding saves. Indeed the final score was 1-1.

 Thursday Division 2
Red Bull Anascaul and Panathieastcork entered this series of matches on equal points. Anascaul faced Athletico PTF, who were pre season favourites but have under performed this season. However Athletico were back to their best this week and dominated the match. Ken O Connor was superb for Athletico in the centre and Dave Power and Eoin Barrett scored two fine goals to give the Friars walk lads a commanding 2-0 lead. Brendan O Connor narrowed the deficit to one but Athletico held on to win 2-1.
Panathieastcork played bottom of the table Men United who were buoyed by their first win the previous week. In a hard fought first half Andy Healy stood out for Panathieastcork. His speed and work rate were the difference between the sides and helped his team to a 2-0 half time lead. Men United reduced the deficit to one when they scored a penalty but almost immediately Panathieastcork responded with two to finish the contest. This win pushed the east Cork lads into a three point lead.
Sons of Pitches kept their title challenge alive with a fine 3-1 win over Big Test Icles. Donagh Tarrant was in great form for the winners and scored two excellent goals. Steve Crowley scored for The Icles.

McCarthy Wins It For The Specials

Thursday Div 2
Donal McCarthy struck his first ever Footy goal for the JT Specials with just 2 minutes left on the clock to complete a magnificent comeback against Men Utd. United who were winning 2-0 at halftime through 2 Joe McCarthy goals were looking comfortable until Stephen Riordain brought the Specials back into the game with a very well taken volley from a very tight angle. Riordain struck again to make it 2-2 before McCarthy scored with a low drive into the bottom corner to seal a great win.
The Garcia brothers were central to the Sons of Pitches 4-2 over Athletico PTF. Jose Garcia scored twice for the Pitches and his brother Diego was also on the scoresheet. Ken O’Connor tried hardest for his side but his man of the match performance was not enough for Athletico.
Dylan O Brien gave a master class in attacking play and finishing as Panatheastcork comprehensively beat Whitfords. O’Brien scored 5 times in a 9-1 drubbing.
Panatheastcork were too quick for Whitfords and had the youth very much on their side.
Big Test Iciles and Red Bull Anascaul drew 2-2 in an excellent hard fought game. A brace from Scott Stanley for Iciles earning his side a well deserved draw. His equalising goal was a great shot from 12 yards

Thursday Div 1
The All Blacks went top of this division with a well deserved 4-1 over the Ex-Pats. Ezy FC and Thirtysomethings drew 2-2 which suited the All Blacks. Expect a few twists and turns in this league yet with all 5 top teams capable of beating each other.
The ThirthySomethings were 2 nil up through goals from Luca and Killian Deasy,
and with their experience should have seen this one out. But 2 well taken goals by Andrew Daunt were the highlight in a great 2nd half comeback by Ezy FC.
Rob Healy excellent centre forward play had a big role to play for the All Blacks as they overcame the Ex Pats. Niall Murphy was also excellent for the winners and if they can hold this side together could secure their first Footy title.
Go with the Flow had a walkover against the Hooligans, but the Flow did play a friendly against Wednesday Division 1 leaders Booze Crew. The Crew were too strong in a rather one sided affair where Connor Meade and Ian Stapelton were best for the Crew.

Tools And Crew Draw

Wednesday Div 1
Game of the week was the clash between 2nd and 3rd, the Booze Crew and The Tools. This high tempo game had lots of high quality players on show. It ended in a very fair 3-3 draw. Michael Doody was best for the Tools and his team mate, the pacey Colin Hammond always looked dangerous, while the very attack minded play of Connor Mede Ian Stapelton for the Crew were a constant threat for the Tools. Barry Clinton produced a great header from a throw in to equalise for the Crew with a few minutes left.
David Daly played the game of his life when he scored all 6 goals for the Chancers as they came from 2-0 down to win 6-3. All 6 goals came in the 2nd half, the 2nd being the pick of the bunch after some quick interplay with Kevin Wilmot.
Cuban Priests stay a point ahead at the top after a walkover against Far From Ath. Their game on the 25th of July will have a big bearing on where the Title ends up. Tools eyes will be watching closely and they will be hoping for a draw here.

Wednesday Div 2
This Division is hotting up nicely with the first 3 teams all on 16 points. Douglas Mortgage and Balaga Tonga produced a 4-4 thriller, much to the satisfaction of CUH who overcame Nualight to go top.
Cian O Brien scored a hatrick for CUH, who played the counter attacking game to a tee, after they had conceded lots of early possession to Nualight. Kieran Buckley and Stephen Nolan did well for Nualight, but their side lacked penetration when attacking.
Eric Cotter produced a late goal for his hatrick and a deserved share of the spoils for Douglas Mortgage. Balaga Tonga’s Philip Cotter who ran the game in midfield, was the best player on the pitch for the hour.
Hit & Miss, should not be discounted as contenders as they are only 2 points off the leaders. They had a tough 2-2 draw with the fast improving Novartis side. Jurgen Bukowski again impressive for Hit or Miss.
The Baggios who a further point back, easily dispatched the Avengers, with Darragh O’Regan scored 5 times.

Wednesday Div 3
Sub Standard Liege continued their rich vein of form as they easily ousted Real Soso Bad 5-0. Patrick Coleman and goal machine James Mealy were tops for Liege. Mealy now has 27 goals after only 8 games. Real Soso were unlucky early in the game as they hit the post and the crossbar when the game was 0-0.
Dynamo Tonduff had a 5-1 win over Lennons Lemmons. The more organised team coming out on top. Ian Crowley and Deccie O Callaghan who scored a brace were best for Tonduff. The Lemmons were caught on the break too many times with little cover in defence.
Reardons RC moved off the bottom of the table with a good win over FC Coping Badly. The highlight of this game was the superb volley by Martin Halahan for FC Coping as well as the outstanding individual display by Eoghan Killcommyns for Reardons.
The Average Joes are just 2 points off of the top of the table, continued their excellent season with a 5-2 win over Crystal Fallace. Eric Montgomery and Brian Gilhooley both scored twice for the Joes.

Thirties Win Top Of Table Clash

Thursday Division 1
The top of the table clash between the All Black and The Thirtysomethings started at a blistering pace. Within a couple of minutes Niall Murphy bagged a goal for the Blacks before Luka responded for the Thirtysomethings.  Both teams had numerous chances but it was the Thirties who converted and with twenty minutes remaining they were in control with a 3-1 lead. However when Vinnie Motherway scored a splendid second for the Blacks the momentum was with the Rochestown men. In spite of dominating for the last ten minutes the Blacks couldn’t break down the Thirties defence and ended up on the wrong side of the 3-2 score line.
The Ezy, Go With The Flow encounter was a match of two halves. The first half was an even affair with few but equal opportunities for both sides. Steve Dwyer broke the deadlock after 20 minutes for EZY with a well taken goal but this is all that separated the sides at half time. The second half was dominated by EZY who scored four more goals and went on to win 5-0.

Thursday Division 2
The Whitfords, Big Test Icles match was a very close, hard fought even encounter played in a very sporting manner. It was the Whitfords who scored first when Jesper Pederson scored a super goal. However Vincent Twomey scored an unforgettable goal to equalise with a tremendous strike right into the top corner. With time running out it was the Whitfords who were pressing for a winner but against the run of play Scott Stanley scored for Big Test to give his team their most impressive result so far and to knock The Whitfords off of their perch on the top of the table.
Two other title contenders squared off when Panathieastcork took on Red Bull Anascaul. Both defences dominated through out with neither side creating many opportunities, The sides were deadlocked at 0-0 at half time. It was Mark Moynihan who scored the only goal of the contest to earn a precious three points for his side and move them to the top of the table,
Ken O Connor was outstanding for Athletico PTF in their clash with Men United. This was another hard fought match during which the skill and speed of O Connor was the difference between the sides. Adrian Noonan gave the men from Friars Walk an early lead with a well taken goal.  Some great feats of goal keeping by Nick Duff in combination with the cross bar kept Men United in the hunt. However a super goal by Jan Ostadoff on the stroke of half time earned Athletico a 2-0 lead. Neither team scored in the second half so the final score was 2-0 in favour of Athletico.

Monty Scores Five

Wed Division 3
Eric Montgomery who scored 5 times for the Average Joes proved to be the difference between the sides as beat a dogged FC Coping badly 7-3. John O Brien did well for FC Coping. But the Joe’s midfielder Joe O Sullivan’s influence on the game was immense. League Leaders Sub Standard Liege kept their good season going as they overcame Dynamo Tonduff 5-3. James Mealy’s 4 goal haul proved the difference here. Both goalkeepers were excellent in a very open encounter.
2nd placed Lennons Lemmons were too strong for Real Soso Bad. Justin Banks for the Lemmons was the most impressive player on display for the hour.
Philip Sweetman got the man of the match for Reardons, but his side still went down to Crystal Fallace in a high scoring game. Con Creedon and Aaron Atkinson were best for Fallace, whose side are capable of challenging for honours but need to show more consistency.

Wed Division 1
There were 3 rather easy victories for the top 3 teams in this division now looks like a 3 horse race. Clinical finishing and a solid defensive performance by the Booze Crew put them back in contention. Martin Deady and man of the match and  Ian Stapelton who hit a hatrick, were in top form for the Crew as they eased passed the Chancers.
Racing Club were also well beaten by league leaders the Cuban Priests who had Cian Lucey and the very reliable Ross Flood in top form.
The Tools beat Far From Athletic in another one sided affair. Best for the Tools Michael Doody and Colin Hammond who scored a brace.

Wed Division 2
Stuart Barber and Paul Sherry both scored twice for Hit or Miss as they beat Balaga Tonga 4-1. Some excellent saves from Damien Kennedy in the Balaga Tonga goal prevented the scoreline from looking worse.
Novartis surprised league leaders Douglas Mortgage with an excellent 8-5 victory. Conor Byrd was on song for Novartis, scoring a hatrick. Kevin and Andy Barry were also excellent for the winners here and were also on the scoresheet.
CUH hammered the struggling Avengers and pushes them up to 3rd spot. Ivan Weir again showed his prowess in front of goal with 4 goals for the Wilton Boys.
Nualight and The Baggios definitely played the game of the week as they drew a cracking game that finished 5-5. Liam Ahern scored a hatrick for Nualight, the most important goal being a last minute equaliser. Daniel Lynch was impressive for the Baggios.

Great Win For The Chancers

Wednesday division 1
The Chancers pulled off the shock of the week when they defeated The Tools in an outstanding encounter. With fifteen minutes remaining The Chancers were winning 3-1, having scored three very well taken goals through David Daly (2) and Damien O Leary. However The Tools dominated the second half and when Oisin McGrath scored two late goals it looked like The Chancers chance was gone. With time almost up The Tools were pressing hard for the winner but on a brilliantly executed counter attack Kevin Wilmot scored for The Chancers to give his team an unexpected but well deserved win.
The encounter between the unbeaten Cuban Priests and the star studded Booze Crew promised to be a fascinating contest. Early on it looked like The Booze Crew would run riot. They scored two fantastic early goals through Martin Deady and Ian Stapleton. However The Priests steadied the ship and pulled one back before half time when Ben Ryan scored a great team goal. The score remained 2-1 until the final 10 minutes when the relentless Booze Crew pressure finally paid off. The final score was 6-1 in favour of The Cobh lads.
Charlie Quinn was in top form in goals for Racing during their match against Far from Athletic. He made some outstanding saves but unfortunately he couldn’t prevent his team from loosing 4-3 to a very lively and fast Far From. The first half was quite even as Mark Menton and Conor O Regan of Racing swapped goals with Aaron Atkinson and Brian O Regan. The second half was dominated by Far From who would have won by more if it wasn’t for the exploits of Charlie Quinn in goal.

Wednesday division 2
Adrian Field was the hero for Nualight when he scored a last minute equaliser for his team against Hit Or Miss. It looked like Ken Fogartys goal would seal the win for Hit Or Miss but Fields final ditch effort scuppered their celebrations. Kieran Buckley and Liam Ahern were also on the mark for Nualight.
The Average Joes performed a Houdini act when they came back from the dead to tie with Dynamo Tonduff. The Mayfield lads were loosing 3-0 at half time but three second half goals, the third of which was scored in the last minute, by Ernest Fagurska and Wojtec earned the Joes a point.
The Balaga Tongo, Baggios match was in effect a shoot out between Pat O Regan of The Baggios who scored four goals and Philip Sweetman of Balaga Tongo who scored five. It was a ding dong affair which Balaga just about shaded on a 6-5 score line.

Wednesday division 3
Division leaders Substandard Liege entered their match against FC Coping Badly unbeaten. However it was Coping Badly who emerged from the encounter with the points. The fixture was tied at four a piece with ten minutes remaining. However Coping Badly scored two in the last few minutes to end The Substandard run of wins. Bernard Parks and Rob Dwyer scored two each for Coping Badly while James mealy scored a brace for Substandard.
Lennons Lemons and Crystal Falice served up a cracker of a match during which both sides scored some spectacular goals. Con Creedon and Bryan Cahill scored two beauties for Falice while Pierce Warren and Bryan Cahill returned the favour for The Lemons. When the score was tied at 3-3 late in the match it was Justin Banks who notched the winner for the Lemons to give the Carrigaline lads a 4-3 win.

O' Gorman Wins It For Baggios

 Division 2
Alan O’Gorman’s classy last minute finish keeps the Baggios 100% record and at the summit of division 2. This win over a dogged and improving Hit or Miss side should prove to be a very valuable 3 points as the season progresses. Jody Sinnot and Jurgen were best for Hit or Miss who were a bit unlucky to finish on the losing side but O’Gorman’s strike when the game was tied at 2-2 was worthy enough to win any game.
Balaga Tonga had another good win over Nualight. The final score in this very attacking game, finished at 6-4. An impressive performance from midfielder Joe Dempsey and some slick finishing from Philip Sweetman help Balaga to edge the 3 points.
Douglas Mortgage also stand on 9 points after 3 games, after their win over CUH. Jim Walsh now deployed between the sticks for Douglas made some excellent saves and keeps them level at the top with the Baggios.
Novartis had a big win over the Avengers, with Ivan Murphy pulling all the strings for them in midfield and setting up several goals.

Division 3
Substandard Liege look like the real deal this season, and are the early season favourites to take this title. James Mealy and Gavin Tackaberry both scored a hatful of goals. One of Mealy’s goals was the highlight, after running the full lengths of the pitch, hitting the post and tapping in the rebound.
Crystal Fallace had a narrow win over Real Soso Bad, and FC Coping Badly had their first win of the season with a big victory over Dynamo Tonduff. Stuart Depuis and Martin Hallahan did most to contribute to their win.

Division 1
The Cuban Priests stay top of the pile here as they beat their big rivals Far From Athletic 4-2. Llyod Dorgan at centre forward for the Priests was a real handful for the Far From defence. Liam Hennessy was best for Far From who battled hard but his side are seriously missing the injured Darragh O’Regan.
The Tools had an excellent win over the Booze Crew and stay 3 points off the top. Shane McCarthy produced some excellent finishing and scored an impressive 4 goals against a strong Booze Crew side. Best for Booze Crew was Martin Deady who looks and excellent player.
Racing bagged their first points with a win 4-2 over the Chancers who had no answer to the energetic Edward Noonan. Jason O Connell was on the score sheet for the Chancers. A brace each from Noonan and Steve O Mahony were the Racing scorers.

Dramatic Win For EZY

Thursday Division 1
The Ex Pats Athletic, Ezy FC encounter was a thrilling match. Colin Farmer scored three magnificent goals for the Ex Pats while Steve Dwyer matched his tally for Ezy. Both goal keepers, Bill Henry for the Pats and Arthur O Shea for Ezy were also outstanding, but with five minutes to go it looked like Ezy would take the points when they went tw goals ahead. However The Pats closed the defecit and appeared to have salvaged a point. But the drama wasn’t over yet. Almost straight from the kick off Kevin Garde notched a winner for Ezy. The final score was 6-5 in favour of Ezy FC.
The Go With The Flow, Thirtysomethings match was a tough hard fought encounter. An early goal scored by Luca Gastoldi for The Thirtysomethings was all that separated the sides entering the final fifteen minutes. During this period Go With The Flow were pressing hard and had numberous chances either saved or off target. When John Duggan finally equalised with two minutes remaining it looked like the Passage lads had salvaged a draw. However their celebrations were short lived because Jake McAuliffe scored a fine winner with thirty seconds remaining to give The Thirtysomethings a 2-1 win.
The All Blacks have made a great start to the season and are now top of the table by virtue of their 4-2 win against The Hooligans. Both teams played some great ball but it was obvious from very early that The All Blacks were better organised and were more used to the format. New comers, The Hooligans have some very good players but got caught too far up the pitch at times which allowed The All Blacks a couple of two on ones in front of goal, which the easily converted. Niall Murphy was his usual commanding self in the middle of the pitch for the All Blacks while Aidan O Sullivan scored twice was always dangerous up front. Niall Kingston and Pat O Regan were in the mark for The Hooligans who will be a fine team when they get used to the 7 a side format.

Thursday Division 2
The Whitfords have started this season in the same vein that they finished last season. They had a fine 4-2 win against Men United this week. The first half was an evenly contested affair during which Cameron Espey of The Whitfords and Joe McCarthy of Men United exchanged goals. However The Whitfords dominated the second period. Their off the ball movement and ability to create space for each other was outstanding. Kevin O’ Connell, Jack Russell and Cameron Espey all scored for The Whitfords during this period while Padraig O Riordan replied with a fine long range effort for Men United.
The Sons of Pitches, Red Bull Anascaul match was thrilling encounter. The teams were deadlocked at 2-2  entering the final ten minutes when Diego Garcia scored a fine winner for The Pitches. Infact it was the Spaniard who scored all of the Pitches goals and was a constant thorn, or sword in the Red bull side. Nick McWade was also outstanding for The Bulls and scored a fine goal for his team.
Dillon O Brien was the difference between The JT Specials and Paniceastcork, as he scored three to give Paniceastcork a 3-0 win against JT Specials.
Athletico PTF were flatterd by their 3-0 win against Big Test Icles. Even though Big Test had a lot of possession and chances they failed to score. On the other hand, Athletico made the most of their chances and scored three fine goals through Ken O Connor, Paul Killeen and Ross O Riordan. Paul Killeen was outstanding in defence for the winners.

Great Start For The Priests

Wednesday Div 1
Footy Leagues got off to a bright start for the Summer season in the excellent weather. Cuban Priests also got off to a bright start in life in Division 1 when they beat a new look Racing Club side by 5-4. Llyod Dorgan excellent performance in midfield for the Priests proved decisive and he scored an impressive hatrick to help seal the 3 points. Mark Menton scored a brace for Racing who pushed the Priests all the way.
The Booze Crew look like early season favourites after their impressive demolition job on the Chancers. David Quigley, Andrew Doody and Ian  Stapleton were all in scoring mood and played some excellent football and look like they might be the team to beat if they can keep this side together for the Summer.
The Tools also played some great football as they opened their season with a 5-2 win over Far From Athletic. Ross McCarthy was best for the Tools who should also be contenders for the Division 1 title.

Wednesday Div 2
The ever improving Hit or Miss team also had a good start with a 6-3 win over Novartis. Danny Driscoll and Dan McSweeney were impressive for Hit or Miss who got off to a lucky start with a Novartis own goal.
The Baggios trounced newcomers the Avengers and top the table on goal difference.
Wayne O Callaghan scored 4 times and impressed along with the industrious Alan O’Gorman for the Baggios.
Douglas Mortgage also started with 3 points after beating Balaga Tonga 3-1. The experienced Jim Walsh led the way for Mortgage. Eoin Kennedy replied for Balaga.
Nualight and CUH played out a very entertaining 2 all draw. This division looks like it will be very tight and should go down to the wire.

Wednesday Div 3
Footy newcomers Lennons Lemmons and seasoned Footy campaigners
Dynamo Tonduff played the game of the week that finished in a 4 all draw. Justin Banks scored his 2nd goal of the evening late in the game and the Lemmons thought they had sealed the 3 points until last seasons MVP winner Dave Murphy stepped up with a last gasp equaliser for Tonduff.
Paul Bartlett scored the goal of the week for the Average Joes as they beat Crystal Fallace bay the odd goal. Joe O Sullivan scored twice for the Joes.
James Mealy was in scoring mood for Sub Standard Liege as they trounced Real Soso Bad. If Liege can finally learn how to defend they will be favourites for this division as they have a very attacking team and are capable of scoring lots of goals.
A last minute goal from Alan Murray sealed a point for Reardons against FC Coping Badly. Philip Sweetman was best for Reardons and Martin Hallahane was man of the match after his Hatrick for Coping Badly

Korona Closing In On Title

Wednesday Div 1
League leaders Korona had a narrow win 6-5 over Racing Club in a very attacking game. This win puts the Polish lads within touching distance of another Footy title, and now all they need is a point in their remaining fixture against the Celts. Kris Pawlik was again excellent for Korona, as was goalkeeper Marcin Korona who made some excellent first half saves to keep Korona in the tie. Peter Fitzmaurice scored an excellent hatrick for an under strength Racing team who competed very well on the night.
The Celts gave their best performance of the season when they trounced Far From Athletic 5-2. Aaron O Sullivan was best for the Celts who put in an excellent team performance. John Doherty continued his excellent season for the winners as he also contributed largely in their win.

Wednesday Div 2
The Cuban Priests again proved that they were by far the strongest team in division 2 as they trounced Douglas Mortgage. Stephen O Donovan was best this week for the Priests and scored a hatrick as did Ben Ryan. The challenge of division 1 awaits the Priests if they are up for it.
Balaga Tonga had a superb 6-5 win over CUH in a very entertaining game. Philip Sweetman was Balaga’s star man and showed some class finishing in front of goal scoring 4 times. Rory Barry and Mark Foley each replied for CUH with a brace of gaols each.
Nualight played the better football and deserved their 7-5 win over Hit or Miss. Kieran Buckley scored a beautiful goal to seal the win late on for Nualight. Paul Richardson was again Hit or Miss’s best player and scored a hatrick  Jack Maguire was also in top form for Nualight who are now in pole position to finish runners up as they are 2 points ahead of CUH going into the last fixture against the Wilton lads.

Wednesday Division 3
The Baggios had an excellent 6-2 win over already crowned champions M&P O’Sullivans. Daniel Lynch was brilliant between the sticks for O’Sullivans who were very much under strength on the night and saved the score from being a cricket score. Dave Murphy proved to be the difference between the sides as he was excellent in midfield for Dynamo Tonduff as they overcame Real Soso Bad by a 4-1 scoreline.
FC Coping Badly coped very well with Kurtz Wallopers as they beat then convincingly 9-3. Martin Hallahan was best for Coping and scored a hatrick as did his team mates Rob Dwyer and John O’Brien.

Wednesday Div 4
Rosies kept the pressure on Fritzl Palace with a win over the Average Joes and this pressure worked as Palace dropped a point in their tie with Crystal Fallace. This now means that Rosies, who are level on points with Fritzl Palace, but are behind on the head to head goal difference, must take all 3 points in their remaining game and hope that the Inbetweeners take something from their tie with Rosies in the last series of games on Wednesday. Dave O’Rourke scored a beauty for Average Joes, but were outclassed by Rosies who had top scorer Martin Higgins again amongst the goals.
Fritzl Palace did well to come back from 3-1 down and left it until the last minute to draw level with a goal from Declan Cussons. This crucial goal was a great for boost for Fritzl Palace who should do the business next week against the Inbetweeners to win this division.
The inconsistent Sub Standard Liege put in their best performance of the season with a big win over the Inbetweeners.  James Mealy and Phil Wade each with a hatful of goals for Liege.

Whitfords Need Just One Point

Thurs Division 3
Whitfords comprehensively beat Men Utd 7-0 to stay top, 3 points ahead of the Flying Column who were also winners over their Barrack St rivals South City. Cameron Espey and Kevin O’Connell each scored excellent individual goals for the Whitfords who are playing some excellent football as the season concludes.
Alan Mullery was excellent in midfield and last season’s MVP Kieran McArtan scored a hatrick for the Column who were too strong for South City in a one sided game. The hard working and a little unlucky Flying Column team have finished runners on a few occasions now and look to South City to do them a favour against Whitfords next Thursday. Whitfords, with all their experience, should see it out and win their first Footy title.
Cormac Crowley took his 2nd half goal well, which proved to be the winner for The Sons of Pitches who won 2-1 against the JT Specials. John McCarthy was best for the Specials.
Panicakios made hard work in seeing off the B69ers who battled well with only 6 players. The Niners lost out on a 5-3 scoreline, were the better side for much of the game, but the industrious Dillon O’Brien eventually turned the game in Panicakios’s favour with 2 well taken goals.

Thurs Division 1
Already crowned division 1 champions the 30 Somethings were beaten by 3-2 by Ex Pats. Paul Kilcoyne did most of the damage for the Pats scoring twice. The under strength Somethings were no match for their opponents on the night and the Ex Pats should have won more comprehensively.
EZY FC moved into 2nd place by beating the All Blacks quite easily and showed some excellent finishing in front of goal, notably from Kevin Garde who was superb and scored 5 goals. Dave Johnson in midfield and Steve Dwyer were also at their best for EZY. Rob Healy and Rory O’Leary were on the score sheet for the All Blacks.

Thurs Division 2
Mark Ryan was best for Apple Exiles as he scored a great hatrick and kept them at the summit of division 2. The Exiles who were 4 nil up at half time, against Athletico PTF conceded twice in the 2nd half, to goals from Dave Barry and Brian Fleming.
The Net Busters remain 3 points adrift and are looking forward to the final league of the season when they square up to the Apple boys in a game which may yet decide this division, that is if Apple do not slip up next week against the Bandits.
The Bandits won a very exciting game 5-3 against The Barrack Rats. Bandits keeper Quintan Gambore provided the turning point when the game was tied at 3-3, by making 2 spectacular saves. His side went on to score twice more through Malcolm Harte and Seamus Keane to seal the points. The inconsistent, mid table, but very capable Bandits may pose problems for the Exiles next week, depending on their attitude.

O'Sullivan Inspires Joes

Wednesday Div 4
The Average Joes gave their best performance of the season when they beat the Inbetweeners 5-3 having come back from being 2 nil down. Joe O’Sullivan was in inspiring form as he played in goal in the first half and produced some outstanding saves that kept the Joe’s in the game. He then switched to centre forward for the 2nd half and scored 4 times. The experienced John O Donovan was also in excellent form for the Joe’s.
Fritzl Palace lost some ground at the top of the table as they also went down to a 5-3 scoreline to the ever improving Sub Standard Liege. Philip Wade was in brilliant form for Liege who are making improvements in defence as the weeks go by, which has now put them into 3rd place and 4 points of the leaders Palace.
2nd placed Rosies continued their good season as they outplayed Crystal Fallace and now look forward to their clash with Palace next week. A tie which could decide where the title ends up.

Wednesday Div 3
Colin Gurhy sealed the division 3 title for M&P O’Sullivans for their 2nd title in a row with a late strike to win a close contest against FC Coping Badly. O’Sullivans showed true grit as they played most of the 2nd half with only 6 players after a red card. Gavin Ahern was man of the match and was excellent for O’Sullivans when they went a man down. The dependable Jay Nixon was again among the goals and scored a brace. Stuart DePuis also scored twice for Coping Badly.
2nd placed Dynamo Tonduff and bottom of the table Kurtz Wallopers played out an entertaining 3-3 draw. A beautiful late strike from James Harding gave the Wallopers a deserved share of the spoils. Dave Murphy was again excellent for Tonduff.
Liam Hennessy was star man for the Baggios as he scored 4 times and helped seal the points against Real Soso Bad, who were a little unlucky to lose this pulsating tie despite an excellent performance from Stephen O’Riordain. This game was 0-0 at half time and then defences opened in the 2nd half as teams got tired. Baggios scoring 5 of the 8, 2nd half goals.

Wednesday Div 2
The Cuban Priests all but sealed division 2, with an impressive display against Nualight. This high scoring game produced some tremendous finishing, especially from the Priests Llyod Dorgan in the first half. However Nualight gave an excellent 2nd half display to make the scoreline more respectable.
The Priests who have been by far the best team all season now only need a point to seal the title against CUH on Wednesday.
CUH beat a weakened Douglas Mortage side 5-1. Ivan Weir with a hatrick for the Wilton Boys who had Anthony O’Brien in brilliant form.

Wednesday Div 1
Korona also took a giant step towards division 1 champions once again as they dispatched Far From Athletic rather easily after a tight first half. FFA were quickest out of the blocks as they raced into a 3-1 lead. Wayne O Callaghan with 2 excellent early goals. However Far From had no answer to the powerful Croatian centre forward Romis Ibisi who was central to the Koronas comeback who scored 5 times.
The Tools who moved into 2nd spot, were also impressive as they beat the Celts 7-2. Eoghan Murphy and Colin Hammond were best for the Tools who gave an excellent all around team performance and kept the ball from their opponents for long periods of the game.

Column Win Battle of Barricka

The Flying Column won the bragging rights in Tom Barry’s pub in Barrack street for the next few months as they beat their fellow drinking buddies the B69ers 3-1. Both teams showed great determination from the start, with the 69ers having most of the possession early on but unable to capitalise on this as they struggled to create an opening the Column defence who lay deep in their own half. French man Fabrice Fortune scored with 2 beauties for the Column and Conor O’Mahony added a third as the Niners chased the game.
Whitfords stay top, 3 points ahead of the Flying Column, after their win over the Specials. Sam Russell and Kevin O Connell were best for Whitfords who are using all their experience, closing in on their first Footy Title.
Cormac Crowley showed some slick finishing as he hit a hatrick for the Sons of Pitches who had a 4-1 win over Men Utd.

Thursday Div 2
The Apple Exiles remain top of the pile as they had an easy  4-1 win over Cordal Rovers. Phelim Barry was best for Apple who stay 3 points ahead of the Net Busters who had a walkover. This league may come down to the last game of the season when the Net Busters take on the Exiles.
Brian Fleming was most impressive for Athletico PTF as the dispatched the Bandits 5-1. Fleming with a very credible 4 goal tally on the night.

Thursday Div 1
Jake McAuliffe scored an impressive hatrick for the 30 Somethings as they beat EZY FC 3-2 in a hard fought game. With the score tied at 2-2 for much of the game McAuliffe struck with a well taken goal to push the Somethings closer to clinching the title. They now only need to win one of their last four games to seal division 1. Steve Dwyer and Dave Johnson tried hardest for EZY but the all round team work of the Somethings helped them to take the points, and add to their impressive record that now reads 10 wins and only 1 loss.
2nd placed Sporting CPL lost ground on the leaders as they also lost 3-2 to the Ex Pats. The Pats struck with a last minute effort to break CPL hearts as they chased the points to try to keep up with the Somethings. Tim O Connor again proved to be the Pats most valuable player on the night.
Known Quantities continued their good form of late and sealed their 4th win in the last five games with a big win over the All Blacks. Zoltan scored with a cracking low drive for the pick of the goals for the Knowns as they also had Edward Noonan and Padraig McGovern in top form.
