Thurs
Division 3
Whitfords
comprehensively beat Men Utd 7-0 to stay top, 3 points ahead of the Flying
Column who were also winners over their Barrack St rivals South City .
Cameron Espey and Kevin O’Connell each scored excellent individual goals for
the Whitfords who are playing some excellent football as the season concludes.
Alan Mullery was
excellent in midfield and last season’s MVP Kieran McArtan scored a hatrick for
the Column who were too strong for South
City in a one sided game.
The hard working and a little unlucky Flying Column team have finished runners
on a few occasions now and look to South
City to do them a favour
against Whitfords next Thursday. Whitfords, with all their experience, should
see it out and win their first Footy title.
Cormac Crowley took
his 2nd half goal well, which proved to be the winner for The Sons
of Pitches who won 2-1 against the JT Specials. John McCarthy was best for the
Specials.
Panicakios made hard
work in seeing off the B69ers who battled well with only 6 players. The Niners
lost out on a 5-3 scoreline, were the better side for much of the game, but the
industrious Dillon O’Brien eventually turned the game in Panicakios’s favour
with 2 well taken goals.
Thurs
Division 1
Already crowned division
1 champions the 30 Somethings were beaten by 3-2 by Ex Pats. Paul Kilcoyne did
most of the damage for the Pats scoring twice. The under strength Somethings
were no match for their opponents on the night and the Ex Pats should have won
more comprehensively.
EZY FC moved into 2nd
place by beating the All Blacks quite easily and showed some excellent
finishing in front of goal, notably from Kevin Garde who was superb and scored
5 goals. Dave Johnson in midfield and Steve Dwyer were also at their best for
EZY. Rob Healy and Rory O’Leary were on the score sheet for the All Blacks.
Thurs
Division 2
Mark Ryan was best for
Apple Exiles as he scored a great hatrick and kept them at the summit of division
2. The Exiles who were 4 nil up at half time, against Athletico PTF conceded
twice in the 2nd half, to goals from Dave Barry and Brian Fleming.
The Net Busters remain
3 points adrift and are looking forward to the final league of the season when they
square up to the Apple boys in a game which may yet decide this division, that
is if Apple do not slip up next week against the Bandits.
The Bandits won a very
exciting game 5-3 against The Barrack Rats. Bandits keeper Quintan Gambore provided
the turning point when the game was tied at 3-3, by making 2 spectacular saves.
His side went on to score twice more through Malcolm Harte and Seamus Keane to
seal the points. The inconsistent, mid table, but very capable Bandits may pose
problems for the Exiles next week, depending on their attitude.
