Division 1 Champions Start Well

The Summer Footy Summer league started again last week with 36 teams participating. The Spring division 1 champions The Kids and The Unknown Quantities, now The Known Quantities both started their campaigns with good wins and will be difficult to dethrone this season.

Wednesday Division 2

Douglasmortgage.ie made a miraculous recovery in their encounter with Far From Athletic. Douglas were 5-1 down at half time having been completely outplayed by a sharp Far From outfit. Far From may have relaxed a little in the second half but a resurgent Douglas completely dominated in this period and went on to score six unanswered goals to win 7-5.

Hit and Miss got their division 2 campaign off to a great start with a comprehensive win over Dynamo Tonduff. The match was only thirty seconds old when Jody Sinnott scored a wonder goal with a volley direct from a throw in. Dan Williams and Chris Irwin bagged a hat trick a piece for the winners.

Colin McCarthy was the hero for Mercer when he notched two goals during their 3-2 victory over United. The high light of the match was the marvellous free kick from Fiachra O Driscoll for United and save from the Mercer keeper after which the ball trickled over the goal line.

Rory Browne scored four times for Balaga Tongo during their 4-2 win over The B69ers. Tom Barry scored early for the 69ers with a great drive from 20 yards to give The Barrack street lads an early lead but with Joe Dempsey in top form Balaga soon took control.

Wednesday Division 3

The Hot Shots and Fritzl Palace began life in footy.ie with a very entertaining match which Fritzl Palace just shaded with a 3-2 win. Conor Healy scored a magnificent free kick from 25 yard for the winners before Anthony Dunne scored an even more impressive individual goal after a great run.

BNY FC were unlucky to loose 3-2 to Sons of Pitches in a thrilling encounter. Frank Carley opened the scoring for BNY with an outstanding effort but two goals scored by Shane Forde helped The Pitches to win.

Rob Wall opened the scoring for O Donovans in the last minute of the first half to give the electricians a 1-0 half time lead against The Castlemartyres. There was only one score separating the sides with five minutes to go when Trevor Deady and Declan Dwyer both scored to seal the win for O Donovans.

A brave performance by The Average Joes against Substandard Liege with just six men left them behind by one at the end after having drawn level with ten minutes remaining. The high light of this encounter was a great goal scored by Pat Coleman for the winners.

Wednesday Division 1

The Kids began this season in the same vein as they finished the last. Despite three fine goals Vadry Gorobets for FC Crofton The kids had too much fire power and went on to win 8-6. Eoghan Murphy bagged a hatrick for the winners.

John Desmond was the man of the match for Novartis during their 4-4 draw with The temple Inn Dians. Mark O Neil scored three for Temple.

Despite a great performance by Mark Scanlon in goal for Nualight, Racing Club went on to win this encounter comprehensively. Gavin O Connor and Colin Keane both scored hat tricks for the winners.

Thursday Division 2

Apple Exiles and BNYM were very evenly matched during their encounter which ended 1-1. The high light of the match was a marvellous goal scored by Flor McCarthy for BNY to equalise after Ronan Geary had given Apple an early lead.

Both goal keepers were in top form during the JT Specials, South City match which ended in a 3-0 win for the specials. John McCarthy scored twice for the winners.

The Chancers began their campaign with a comprehensive win over The Whitfords. David Daly was in great form for the winners and scored five goals. The Chancers are the early favourites to win this division.

Rory Walsh was in great for CPL FC and scored five goals during their encounter against Paniyakos. Alan Jordan and Donal Mulvahill were also impressive for the winners. Seamus o Brien and Igoras Rogacious did well for The East Cork lads.

Thursday Division 1

The Os Navagantes and All Blacks encounter was a match of two halves. The Portuguese lads with Joao and Pedro Rodriguez playing well dominated the first and deserved to lead 3-0 at half time. The All Blacks turned on the style in the second period and scored some magnificent goals. They went on to win 5-3. Rob Healy notched a second half hat trick for the Blacks.

A man of the match performance by Anthony Doyle in goal for the Booze Crew prevented The Know Quantities from demolishing The Booze crew. Ken Hourahan and Gordon Lynch were excellent for the winners while Padraig McGovern scored three.

Athletico PTF scored three first half goals against an out of sorts Ex Pats Athletic to stat their campaign with a win. Chris Dennehy, Gary Leahy and Jan Oosterhof were on the mark for the winners.

Unknowns Triumph

The final round of the thursday leagues were played last thursday evening. The awards for the competitions were also presented.


Thursday Division 1

The Unknown Quantities deservedly won this league. They were unbeaten all season and performed very well in the top of the table clashes against The Thirtysomethings. In the past The Thirtysomethings were invincible in the important clashes. The silky skills and speed of Chen and the uncanny eye for goal of Gordon Lynch were The Unknowns main weapons. Ken Hourahan arrived late in the season to reinforce their ranks.

Pity The Fool, who were promoted at the start of the season, acquitted them selves very well, having struggled at this level in the past. The Bandits and surprisingly, The All Blacks both struggled.

Mark Murphy of The Thirtysomethings won the league MVP trophy. The other nominees, who were selected by the referees, were Tim O Connor of The Ex Pats, Fiachra O Driscoll of United and Chen. Gordon Lynch of The Unknowns won the Top Scorer Award with an amazing 30 goals.

Thursday Division 2

The Net Busters dominated this division from the very start. Playing in the second division is what these lads needed after they struggled in the first division in the previous campaign. They will be a force to be reckoned with when they return to top flight football. In Jake Smith and Alex Daly they have two top class forwards. Skipper, Damien Byrne and Graham O’ Keefe were always a steadying influence at the back. The most impressive trait of this team is their determination to enjoy their football, regardless of results. It was easier to maintain this this season.

The Bank of NY were a threat well into the second half of the season, however new comers TA Sheehan scuppered their chances of glory when defeating and tying with them with late goals.

Apple Exiles had a great first season and will compete strongly next season while BNY and The Whitfords will be pleased with how they performed.

Colin Deevey of BNY won The MVP award for the division while the other referee nominations were Cameron Espee of The Whitfords and Mark Ryan of Apple. Jake Smith of The Net Busters won The Top Scorer award.

Thursday Division 3

The division wasn’t decided until the final evening when CPL FC confronted The 49ers and needed to defeat them by at least two goals to claim the title. They came very close. They won the encounter, but by only one goal.  Both CPL and Panicyaikos are new teams and will be very satisfied with their performances in this league. Both will be contenders next season. Seamus O Brien of Panicyaikos picked up The MVP award.

Kids Win Wednesday Division 1 Title

Wednesday Division 1

The Refugees needed to defeat The Kids by at least three goals to retain their crown in the top of the table clash on the final night. The Polish lads dominated the first half and with Pawel Pciak controlling the centre of the pitch they deservedly had the three goal deficit wiped out by half time. However, The Kids didn’t panic and in the second period they rediscovered their form. When they scored two early goals the wind was gone from the Refugees sails and the title was in the possession of The Kids. The final score was 4-4.

Racing and Temple played a thriller that ended 5-4 in favour of Temple. There was never more than a goal between the teams with the lead being exchanged on a number of occasions. The hero of the match was John Daly of Temple who scored a great late goal to win the encounter for Temple.

Ryan Nolan scored a hat trick and was in top form for QEF Global during their very exciting contest with Dynamo Tonduff. His first goal was a beauty. After beating two players he calmly slotted the ball over the keeper into the corner. The final score was 7-4 in favour of QEF.

Wednesday Division 2

The battle of the hospitals was won by the odd goal by CUH against The Bons on a 5-4 score line. This win also clinched the division title for The Wilton lads. The winning goal was an OG from a back pass from the half way line while the keeper was out of the goal.

Far From Athletic defeated Club Redz 7-3 to finish the season in second place. The Ballinhasig lads would have won this division if they hadn’t dropped so many points to teams they would have expected to defeat. Pat O Regan scored a great individual goal when he beat 4 players before drilling his shot into the bottom right corner.

The early leaders in this division, Douglasmortgage.com finished the league in the same vein as they started. Albert Hobbs scored three early goals from which Balaga Tonga couldn’t recover. The final score was 4-1.

  

Wednesday Division 3

Despite trailing by three goals at half time Hit and Miss recovered and won their encounter with The Castlemartyres 4-3. This win also sealed their status as the division champions. Darren Morgan who scored a brace for the winners was in great form and awarded MVP.

Despite defending for long periods BNYM were only one goal behind at the end of a very entertaining match with Substandard Liege. Substandard had a great finish to the season and in James Mealy have an outstanding Striker. They will be a force to reckon with next season.

The Average Joes finished the season with a great 6-0 win over Marys Ramblers. Joe O Sullivan had a huge impact on the match and was hugely missed during his long absence due to injury. Considering this was Marys first season, they did quite well and always played with lots of heart and humour.

Thursday Division 1

It took a last minute goal by Graham Virgo to rescue the points for The Thirtysomethings. When The Magpies surrendered a two goal half time lead to United with five minutes remaining all of the momentum was with Cian Kennedy’s charges. However Graham Virgo was the hero when he scored in the last minute.

The Unknown Quantities maintained their unbeaten run with a hard fought victory over The Bandits in a tie that resulted in a 3-0 win for The Unknowns. The high light of the match was an outstanding strike by Ken Hourahan from inside his own half which resulted in The Unknowns second goal.

Thursday Division 2

The Net Busters were crowned champions of the division following their 9-5 win over JT Specials. Paul Sexton was outstanding for the winners and bagged four goals.

The high light of the Whitfords, Apple Exiles encounter was a brilliant long range strike by Eamon Barry of The Whitfords to put his side two up early in the second half. When Mark Ryan pulled one back for Apple it looked like an exciting finish was on the cards. However a late goal for the Whitfords settled the tie.

  

Thursday Division 3

Even though CPL defeated The 49ers 4-3 and finished level on points, it was the 49ers who claimed the crown because they had defeated CPL by two goals in the previous tie between the same teams. The high light of the match was the great individual goal scored by Alan Jordan for CPL.

An outstanding late goal scored by Dave of South City earned his side a share of the spoils against a fine Panicyikos outfit. Mark McCarthy had given the East Cork lads an early lead.

Unknowns Win Top of Table Clash

Thursday Division 1

Both The Thirtysomethings and The Unknown Quantities entered this top of the table clash unbeaten and level on points, however the Unknowns had a better goal difference so The Thirtysomethings needed to win to keep their championship aspirations within their own control. It was the Magpies who had the early chances but goalkeeper Charley Quinn managed to keep the goal intact. A great individual goal by Chen for the Unknowns that gave The Passage lads the lead at half time. Colm Dooley equalised early in the second period before Michael Brennan restored the Unknowns advantage. The teams swapped very good goals in the final 10 minutes to give the Unknowns the points and a healthy advantage heading into the last couple of rounds.

The high light of The Bandits, United encounter was the terrific individual goal scored by Malcolm Harte for the Bandits. When John Haugh of United reduced the deficit to one it looked like United might reign The Bandits in, but it was the Bandits who took the initiative and went on to win 3-1.

The Ex Pats laid siege on The Booze crew goal for the last ten minutes of this very entertaining encounter. However the couldn’t breach the Navy lads goal and The booze Crew eventually won 3-1.

The most unlucky player of the evening was Eoin Barrett of Pity The Fool who hit the post four times during his teams match against The All Blacks. The All Blacks won the game 4-1.

Thursday Division 2

This Flying Column, Whitfords tie was dominated by the outstanding hat trick scored by Cameron Espey of the Whitfords. His finishing was the difference between the teams in a match which The Whitfords won 6-2.

At 3-1 down, The JT Specials were extremely unlucky when they hit the post on three occasions.  BNY took full advantage and they went on to win 5-1. The high light was the great individual goal scored by Stjohn Dennehy for BNY, his first in 25 matches.

John Fahy scored an outstanding hat trick including a spectacular volley for TA Sheehans when the defeated league leaders The Net Busters 7-4 in a very enjoyable encounter. Damien Byrne bagged two for The Busters.

Wednesday Division 1

Counter attacking tactics saved the day for Dynamo Tonduff against Match.com in an encounter that ended 4-4. Despite dominating possession and possessing better technique, Match.com were always under threat from the Tonduff counter attack. Mick Ring was outstanding and a constant threat for the FORFAS lads.

The very polished Refugees were too strong for an under strength Temple Inn in a match that ended 7-3 in favour of the Poles. Rory Perry and Andy O Mahony defended valiantly for the Ballintemple lads but Robert Kriegal and company were always in control.

Wednesday Division 2

After loosing their grip on the title race last week, CUH got their campaign back on track with a comprehensive win over Sons of Pitches. Ivan Weir and Cathal O Sullivan were brilliant for the winners.

It looked like Far From Athletic were going to add the douglasmortgage.ie scalp to their collection when they were leading 5-2 with 15 minutes to go. However the Douglas lads launched a very impressive comeback and tied the encounter 5-5.

Club Redz fought their way back to all square at 3-3 after conceding three early goals to Balaga Tonga. However it was Balaga who finished the stronger side and went on to win 6-3. Eoghan Kennedy was outstanding for the winners while Terry Yelverston was always a threat for The Redz.

Dave Spiteri was inspirational for The Bons against Rosies in a contest that The College Road outfit won quite easily. James Cooke and Jim Reardon notched a brace a piece for the winners while Kieran Hurley scored for Rosies.

Wednesday Division 3

The high light of the Substandard Liege, Castlemartyres match was the superb display of Alan Mealy. Padraig O Riordan and Mick Ring were tried hardest for the Martyrs.

The Boca Seniors stunned Marys Ramblers with three early goals, from which the Ramblers never recovered. Philip Blackwell and Aidan Ryan bagged a hat trick a piece for the Midleton lads while Mick Bohane scored four for Marys.

After an evenly contested first half, the score was 2-2 between Barstoolona and The Average Joes. However superior finishing in the second period enabled The Average Joes to take the points and win 6-2.

Kevin Murphy was in great form for BNYM against Hit and Miss and his two early goals had the league leaders worried. However a hat trick by Darren Morgan scuppered any chances of a shock and Hit and Miss went on to win 5-2

Great Win For JT Specials

Thursday Division 2

It looked like The Flying Column would emerge from their encounter with JT Specials with the points when Conor O Mahony got The Barrack Street lads back on level terms with a super strike after conceding two early goals. However, it was JT who took the initiative in the second half and went on to win 3-2.

After a very evenly fought first half, Apple Exiles pulled away from TA Sheehans in the second half. The 6-1 score was a little flattering to The Holly Hill men in spite of an outstanding performance by Mark Long who scored four goals.

The Net Busters moved a step closer to their first Footy.ie title after defeating Bank of NY 4-2. Jake Smith and Graham O Keefe were outstanding for the Cobh men.

The high light of the BNY, Whitfords clash was the outstanding 20 yard volley scored by Frank Carley for BNY. The score would have been a lot closer than 5-1 if The Whitfords converted a small number of their numerous chances.

Thursday Division 1

Ken Hourahan scored a hat trick was in great form for The Unknowns during their match against The Ex Pats which they won 9-4. Chen and Gordon Lynch also impressed for The Passage lads. Paddy O Donnell bagged a brace for The Pats.

When Niall Murphy put The All Black two up against United early in the first half it looked like The All Blacks had rediscovered the form that has deserted them this season. However Cian Kennedy narrowed the deficit with a great strike which inspired the lads in green to a 6-2 win.

The Bandits pulled off the best comeback of the season when they retrieved a 3-0 half time deficit to tie with Pity The Fool 3-3. Pity dominated the first half in which Kieran Hederington scored two fine goals. The hero was Malcolm Harte of The Bandits who scored a last minute equaliser.

The high light of Thirtysomethings 5-1 defeat of The Booze Crew was the marvellous goal scored by Jake McAuliffe. The result leaves Thirtysomethings and Unknown Quantities neck and neck entering the straight.

Thursday Division 3

Rory Walsh and Damien Cotter were in top for CPL during their encounter with South City. Danny Mullaley did very well for South City and bagged a hat trick.

Panikiakos were unlucky not to defeat the previously undefeated 49ers. Having come from behind on two occasions they finished the stronger team. Luke Hennessy scored a wonder goal for the 49ers.

Wednesday Division 2

The surprise of the evening was the comprehensive defeat of league leaders CUH at the hands of Far From Athletic. Pat O Regans excellent goal was all that separated the teams at half time. However Far From scored twice early in the second half to put the tie beyond CUH. The final score was 5-1.

The Bons were outstanding, especially in the first half during their encounter with Club Redz. Club Redz, who were missing some of their regulars were subjected to high energy pressing tactics from the College Road lads. The Bons went on to win 7-2

Balaga Tongas new signing Joe Dempsey was very impressive and scored two fine goals during Balaga 4-1 win against Rosies. John Grey notched Rosies solitary goal.

Wednesday Division 3

Dan Williams scored a hat trick and was generally outstanding for Hit and Miss during their demolition of Barstoolona. Others to impress for the winners was Darren Morgan and Steve Sinnott.

The two goals scored by James Mealy for Substandard Liege against Marys Ramblers in the first five minutes set the tone for this one sided encounter. Mealy went on to bag six. However the high light of the game was the wonderful goal scored by David Maloney for The Ramblers.

The Average Joes maintained the pressure on Hit and Miss with a fine 5-3 win over BNYM. The Joes were always in control and scored some top class goals. BNYM never stopped trying and were only two behind in the end.

Aidan Ryan was the hero for Boca Seniors when he scored five goals against The Castlemartyres during their 7-4 victory. Niall Walsh scored a brace for The Martyrs.

Wednesday Division 1

QEF did better against The Kids than the 7-2 score line suggests. Colin Hammond and Eoin Murphy scored a hat trick a piece for the Kids while Fergal Lynch and Rory O Leary were on the mark for QEF.

An under strength Refugees defeated a spirited Dynamo Tonduff 6-3 in a very entertaining and sporting match. Robert Kriegal was his usual lethal self and scored four fine goals for the winners

Balaga Unlucky Not To Draw

Wednesday Division 2

CUH were very fortunate to emerge from their encounter with Balaga Tonga with three points. Trailing 4-5, Balaga bombarded the CUH goal for the final 10 minutes but just couldn’t score an equaliser. Rory Browne and Eoghan Kennedy scored a brace a piece for Balaga while Ivan Weir and Rory Barry responded with braces for CUH.

In the battle between experience and youth involving Rosies and Far From Athletic, it was the industry and energy of youth that won the day. The encounter was a lot closer than the 7-2 score suggests.

When Club Redz reduced the deficit to one having been behind by three, it looked like they might go on to win their competition with Sons of Pitches. However The Pitches managed to change the momentum and went on to win 7-4

Dave Spiteri and Jimmy Reardon were outstanding for The Bons against douglasmortgage.ie. After a great first half of the season Douglas are struggling at the moment, and were never in contention against a skilful Bons who deserved their 6-2 win.

Wednesday Division 1

Man of the match, Steve Dwyer scored a great hat trick for Temple Inn Tigers against QEF in a very entertaining match. Dave Johnson and Rory Perry were also on the mark for the Ballintemple lads while Ryan Nolan and Maurice Henderson were impressive for QEF.

It looked like a surprise was on the cards when Niall Buckley scored a great goal for Dynamo Tonduff against Racing after 30 seconds. However this encounter was the Chen Show. The Chinese lad put on a top class performance and even though Tonduff got back on even terms before half time, they had no answer to Chens speed and skill. He scored 4 goals for Racing, who went on to win 5-2.

Wednesday Division 3

James Mealy was immense for Substandard Liege during their encounter with Barstoolona. Even though Substandard were short a player in the first half they were ahead at half time. When their seventh player arrived they totally dominated.

Aidan Ryan was the hero for The Boca Seniors against BNYM FC when he scored a last minute winner. The teams were deadlocked at 2-2 after a great contest when Ryan poached the winner to leave the unlucky BNYM devastated.

The Castlemartyres overcame a very strong Average Joes to secure their most impressive scalp yet. Alistair Murphy was outstanding for the winners and bagged a fine hat trick. Erik Montgomery and Joe O’Sullivan stood out for The Joes.

Thursday Division 1

The All Blacks were brought back down to earth when they were defeated convincingly by a very strong Unknown Quantities outfit. The Unknowns are undefeated and are growing in confidence every week.

The Thirtysomethings, who are also undefeated put in another strong performance but had to work very hard to defeat a resilient Pity The Fool 3-0. It took three outstanding goals from Niall Kerrigan,  Jake McAuliffe and Mark Murphy to breach the Pity defence.

The Booze Crew returned to winning ways with a hard earned win against The Bandits. Dave Walsh was outstanding for The Sailors while their goals were scored by Brian Stapleton, Anthony Doyle and Damien O Leary.

The Ex Pats rediscovered some form this week when they defeated United 3-1. The high light of this fixture was the comical goal conceded by the Pats keeper (Sorry Rob). It was lucky for him that they had a two goal cushion at the time.

Thursday Division 2

The Net Busters were outstanding again this week and were never in any danger during their encounter with The Whitfords.  However, The Cobh lads didn’t have it all their own way. The Whitfords competed well in the second half and scored two fine goals, one of which was a great strike by their prolific striker Cameron Espee.

The battle of New York was won by Bank of NY 4-3 as they completed the double over their work colleagues at BNY Mellon. The teams were deadlocked at 2-2 at half time. However the winners scored two crucial goals early in the second half by Sean Tobin and Ricky Fleming to seal the win.

The encounter between TA Sheehan and The Flying Column was a very scrappy affair in the first half during which Noel Hayes scored for The Column. TA Sheehans improved in the second half but were denied by some top class saves by Brendan Cotter. Alan Mullery scored a great second for The Column close to full time to ensure the win.

It looked like JT Specials would get at least a point from their game against Apple Exiles when they came from two down to all square with ten minutes left. However two late goals by Apple scuppered any JT celebrations.

 Thursday Division 3

The CPL FC and Panikyakos match was a ding dong affair with first one team going ahead, only for the other to equalise and go ahead. The 3-3 score was a fair result as neither team deserved to loose.

The 49ers maintained their 100% record with a fine 6-3 win against South City. The high light of the match was the outstanding strike from a free for the 49ers by Martin Murphy. Barry Keane also scored a fine goal for south City.

Unknown Keeper Is Hero

Goal Keeper Charley Quinn was the hero for The Unknown Quantities who were very lucky to survive an incredible Booze Crew comeback. Leading 5-1, well into the second half the Unknowns took their foot off of the gas and would have paid the ultimate price if Charlie Quinn hadn’t made a string of top notch saves including a penalty save when the score was 5-4. This save seemed to inspire his team mates and they went on to win 7-4.

The All Blacks finally played to their potential during their 4-1 win against The Bandits. Man of the match Philip Healy was outstanding for the Mount Oval lads and scored a fine goal.

Pity The Fool got back on track this week with a good 4-0 win over an under strength United. Despite having only six players, United were still in the match at half time as the score was 1-0. However the gaps began to appear late in the match as United tired and Pity were able to capitalise.

The Thirtysomething stunned The Ex Pats with three very early goals. This enabled them to defend in numbers and employ counter attacking tactics which they used to great effect. Mark murphy and Jake McAuliffe were immense for the men in Black and White.

Thursday Division 2

A hat trick scored by Colin Deevy of BNY FC against The Flying Column was the difference between the sides in a match that was all square at 2-2 at half time.  Noel Hayes and |Dan McCarthy were on the score sheet for the Column in the first half but Paul Kearney didn’t concede for BNY in the second.

The encounter of the evening was the thriller between Bank of NY and TA Sheehans. It looked like Bank of NY would saunter to an easy win when they scored two early goals  but a brace a piece for Jack Sheehan and Darren Ronan for Sheehans shifted the momentum in favour of the accountants. However a late couple of goals by Sean Tobin saved the day for Bank of NY and tied the match at 4-4.

JT Specials were very unlucky to leave empty handed when they lost 3-2 to The Whitfords. A late goal from Gavin Roser gave the Whitfords the win.

The Net Busters defeated Apple Exiles 3-2 to maintain their five point lead at the top of the division. Damien Byrne, John Sexten and Jake Smith were the scorers for the Busters while Mark Kirwin and Val Sexton were on the score sheet for Apple.

Thursday Division 3

Colin Irwin and Robert Cole were immense for The 49ers during their 4-2 over CPL FC. Irwin and Dave Johnson scored a pair each for the winners while former Dragons Rory Walsh and Alan Jordan were on the mark for CPL.

Panicyaikos finally got off of the mark with a single goal win over South City. Man of the match, Kieran McCarthy scored a couple for the winners but it was Seamus O Brien who was the hero when he scored a last minute winner. Mark McGuire and Dave Domican scored for South City.

Wednesday Division 2

Far From Athletic made up some ground on the leaders when their star player, Wayne O Callaghan notched a last minute winner against Sons of Pitches. It looked like The Pitches had earned a tie when Jay Nixon equalised with time running out but O Callaghan’s third goal gave Far From a 3-2 win.

Douglasmortgage.ie were denied a dramatic win against league leaders CUH by a late Sean Sheehan equaliser. Even though CUH dominated possession, Douglas were ahead with minutes remaining but Sheehans late strike scuppered the Douglas celebrations.

A great hat trick by Eoghan Kennedy was the difference between the sides during the Bons, Balaga Tonga clash. The score was 2-2 at half time, but two early second half goals gave Balaga the cushion they needed to take the points. Jimmy Reardon and Dave Spiteri were very good for the Bons.

Barry Greaney was excellent in a well marshalled and disciplined defensive unit for Club Redz during their encounter with Rosies. However, Kieran Hurly managed to breach the defence on two occasions but ended up on the wrong side of the 3-2 score.

Wednesday Division 1

QEF set the tone for the rest of the match when Ray Keating scored in the first minute against Racing Club. The high light of the encounter was an outstanding headed goal by Ryan Nolan of QEF during their 6-1 win.

Newcomer Rory Perry made an immediate impact for Temple Inn Tigers when he scored 4 four goals in the first 20 minutes during their clash with Dynamo Tonduff. Joe Harte and Sean O Connell tried hard for Tonduff.

It looked like The Refugees would have a serious challenge on their hands when Colin Keane scored a superb opener for Match.com. However, it wasn’t long until Robert Kriegal and company steadied the ship and went on to win convincingly.

Wednesday Division 3

The match of the evening was the top of the table encounter between Hit and Miss and The Average Joes. It was a match of contrasting styles, Hit and Miss being a more fluid attacking outfit while The Average Joes are a defensive counter attacking team. It was a great game and a 2-2 draw was a fair result. Joe O Sullivan and Erik Montgomery were outstanding for The Average Joes while Peter Sinnott and Dan McSweeney were excellent for  Hit and Miss.

Justice was done when James Mealy scored with the last kick of the match after being denied three times previously by the goal posts. Pat Coleman stole the show by scoring four during the 6-2 victory for Substandard Liege over Boca Seniors.

Sean Cronin was a commanding figure at the back for The Castlemartyres during their 6-2 win against Marys Ramblers. Luke McKeon bagged a brace for The Martyrs while Dave Maloney and Adrian Hickey were on the mark for Marys.

Frank Carley was the hero for BNYM when he saved a penalty with four minutes left against Barstoolona to tie the match 2-2. William Punch and Paul O Leary scored for Barstool while Paul Creedon and Shay O Connell were on the mark for BNYM.
