Tools And Crew Draw

Wednesday Div 1

Game of the week was the clash between 2^nd and 3^rd, the Booze Crew and The Tools. This high tempo game had lots of high quality players on show. It ended in a very fair 3-3 draw. Michael Doody was best for the Tools and his team mate, the pacey Colin Hammond always looked dangerous, while the very attack minded play of Connor Mede Ian Stapelton for the Crew were a constant threat for the Tools. Barry Clinton produced a great header from a throw in to equalise for the Crew with a few minutes left.

David Daly played the game of his life when he scored all 6 goals for the Chancers as they came from 2-0 down to win 6-3. All 6 goals came in the 2^nd half, the 2^nd being the pick of the bunch after some quick interplay with Kevin Wilmot.

Cuban Priests stay a point ahead at the top after a walkover against Far From Ath. Their game on the 25^th of July will have a big bearing on where the Title ends up. Tools eyes will be watching closely and they will be hoping for a draw here.

Wednesday Div 2

This Division is hotting up nicely with the first 3 teams all on 16 points. Douglas Mortgage and Balaga Tonga produced a 4-4 thriller, much to the satisfaction of CUH who overcame Nualight to go top.

Cian O Brien scored a hatrick for CUH, who played the counter attacking game to a tee, after they had conceded lots of early possession to Nualight. Kieran Buckley and Stephen Nolan did well for Nualight, but their side lacked penetration when attacking.

Eric Cotter produced a late goal for his hatrick and a deserved share of the spoils for Douglas Mortgage. Balaga Tonga’s Philip Cotter who ran the game in midfield, was the best player on the pitch for the hour.

Hit & Miss, should not be discounted as contenders as they are only 2 points off the leaders. They had a tough 2-2 draw with the fast improving Novartis side. Jurgen Bukowski again impressive for Hit or Miss.

The Baggios who a further point back, easily dispatched the Avengers, with Darragh O’Regan scored 5 times.

Wednesday Div 3

Sub Standard Liege continued their rich vein of form as they easily ousted Real Soso Bad 5-0. Patrick Coleman and goal machine James Mealy were tops for Liege. Mealy now has 27 goals after only 8 games. Real Soso were unlucky early in the game as they hit the post and the crossbar when the game was 0-0.

Dynamo Tonduff had a 5-1 win over Lennons Lemmons. The more organised team coming out on top. Ian Crowley and Deccie O Callaghan who scored a brace were best for Tonduff. The Lemmons were caught on the break too many times with little cover in defence.

Reardons RC moved off the bottom of the table with a good win over FC Coping Badly. The highlight of this game was the superb volley by Martin Halahan for FC Coping as well as the outstanding individual display by Eoghan Killcommyns for Reardons.

The Average Joes are just 2 points off of the top of the table, continued their excellent season with a 5-2 win over Crystal Fallace. Eric Montgomery and Brian Gilhooley both scored twice for the Joes. 

Thirties Win Top Of Table Clash

Thursday Division 1

The top of the table clash between the All Black and The Thirtysomethings started at a blistering pace. Within a couple of minutes Niall Murphy bagged a goal for the Blacks before Luka responded for the Thirtysomethings.  Both teams had numerous chances but it was the Thirties who converted and with twenty minutes remaining they were in control with a 3-1 lead. However when Vinnie Motherway scored a splendid second for the Blacks the momentum was with the Rochestown men. In spite of dominating for the last ten minutes the Blacks couldn’t break down the Thirties defence and ended up on the wrong side of the 3-2 score line.

The Ezy, Go With The Flow encounter was a match of two halves. The first half was an even affair with few but equal opportunities for both sides. Steve Dwyer broke the deadlock after 20 minutes for EZY with a well taken goal but this is all that separated the sides at half time. The second half was dominated by EZY who scored four more goals and went on to win 5-0.

Thursday Division 2

The Whitfords, Big Test Icles match was a very close, hard fought even encounter played in a very sporting manner. It was the Whitfords who scored first when Jesper Pederson scored a super goal. However Vincent Twomey scored an unforgettable goal to equalise with a tremendous strike right into the top corner. With time running out it was the Whitfords who were pressing for a winner but against the run of play Scott Stanley scored for Big Test to give his team their most impressive result so far and to knock The Whitfords off of their perch on the top of the table.

Two other title contenders squared off when Panathieastcork took on Red Bull Anascaul. Both defences dominated through out with neither side creating many opportunities, The sides were deadlocked at 0-0 at half time. It was Mark Moynihan who scored the only goal of the contest to earn a precious three points for his side and move them to the top of the table,

Ken O Connor was outstanding for Athletico PTF in their clash with Men United. This was another hard fought match during which the skill and speed of O Connor was the difference between the sides. Adrian Noonan gave the men from Friars Walk an early lead with a well taken goal.  Some great feats of goal keeping by Nick Duff in combination with the cross bar kept Men United in the hunt. However a super goal by Jan Ostadoff on the stroke of half time earned Athletico a 2-0 lead. Neither team scored in the second half so the final score was 2-0 in favour of Athletico.

Monty Scores Five

Wed Division 3

Eric Montgomery who scored 5 times for the Average Joes proved to be the difference between the sides as beat a dogged FC Coping badly 7-3. John O Brien did well for FC Coping. But the Joe’s midfielder Joe O Sullivan’s influence on the game was immense. League Leaders Sub Standard Liege kept their good season going as they overcame Dynamo Tonduff 5-3. James Mealy’s 4 goal haul proved the difference here. Both goalkeepers were excellent in a very open encounter.

2nd placed Lennons Lemmons were too strong for Real Soso Bad. Justin Banks for the Lemmons was the most impressive player on display for the hour.

Philip Sweetman got the man of the match for Reardons, but his side still went down to Crystal Fallace in a high scoring game. Con Creedon and Aaron Atkinson were best for Fallace, whose side are capable of challenging for honours but need to show more consistency.

Wed Division 1

There were 3 rather easy victories for the top 3 teams in this division now looks like a 3 horse race. Clinical finishing and a solid defensive performance by the Booze Crew put them back in contention. Martin Deady and man of the match and  Ian Stapelton who hit a hatrick, were in top form for the Crew as they eased passed the Chancers.

Racing Club were also well beaten by league leaders the Cuban Priests who had Cian Lucey and the very reliable Ross Flood in top form.

The Tools beat Far From Athletic in another one sided affair. Best for the Tools Michael Doody and Colin Hammond who scored a brace.

Wed Division 2

Stuart Barber and Paul Sherry both scored twice for Hit or Miss as they beat Balaga Tonga 4-1. Some excellent saves from Damien Kennedy in the Balaga Tonga goal prevented the scoreline from looking worse.

Novartis surprised league leaders Douglas Mortgage with an excellent 8-5 victory. Conor Byrd was on song for Novartis, scoring a hatrick. Kevin and Andy Barry were also excellent for the winners here and were also on the scoresheet.

CUH hammered the struggling Avengers and pushes them up to 3^rd spot. Ivan Weir again showed his prowess in front of goal with 4 goals for the Wilton Boys.

Nualight and The Baggios definitely played the game of the week as they drew a cracking game that finished 5-5. Liam Ahern scored a hatrick for Nualight, the most important goal being a last minute equaliser. Daniel Lynch was impressive for the Baggios.

Great Win For The Chancers

Wednesday division 1

The Chancers pulled off the shock of the week when they defeated The Tools in an outstanding encounter. With fifteen minutes remaining The Chancers were winning 3-1, having scored three very well taken goals through David Daly (2) and Damien O Leary. However The Tools dominated the second half and when Oisin McGrath scored two late goals it looked like The Chancers chance was gone. With time almost up The Tools were pressing hard for the winner but on a brilliantly executed counter attack Kevin Wilmot scored for The Chancers to give his team an unexpected but well deserved win.

The encounter between the unbeaten Cuban Priests and the star studded Booze Crew promised to be a fascinating contest. Early on it looked like The Booze Crew would run riot. They scored two fantastic early goals through Martin Deady and Ian Stapleton. However The Priests steadied the ship and pulled one back before half time when Ben Ryan scored a great team goal. The score remained 2-1 until the final 10 minutes when the relentless Booze Crew pressure finally paid off. The final score was 6-1 in favour of The Cobh lads.

Charlie Quinn was in top form in goals for Racing during their match against Far from Athletic. He made some outstanding saves but unfortunately he couldn’t prevent his team from loosing 4-3 to a very lively and fast Far From. The first half was quite even as Mark Menton and Conor O Regan of Racing swapped goals with Aaron Atkinson and Brian O Regan. The second half was dominated by Far From who would have won by more if it wasn’t for the exploits of Charlie Quinn in goal.

Wednesday division 2

Adrian Field was the hero for Nualight when he scored a last minute equaliser for his team against Hit Or Miss. It looked like Ken Fogartys goal would seal the win for Hit Or Miss but Fields final ditch effort scuppered their celebrations. Kieran Buckley and Liam Ahern were also on the mark for Nualight.

The Average Joes performed a Houdini act when they came back from the dead to tie with Dynamo Tonduff. The Mayfield lads were loosing 3-0 at half time but three second half goals, the third of which was scored in the last minute, by Ernest Fagurska and Wojtec earned the Joes a point.

The Balaga Tongo, Baggios match was in effect a shoot out between Pat O Regan of The Baggios who scored four goals and Philip Sweetman of Balaga Tongo who scored five. It was a ding dong affair which Balaga just about shaded on a 6-5 score line.

Wednesday division 3

Division leaders Substandard Liege entered their match against FC Coping Badly unbeaten. However it was Coping Badly who emerged from the encounter with the points. The fixture was tied at four a piece with ten minutes remaining. However Coping Badly scored two in the last few minutes to end The Substandard run of wins. Bernard Parks and Rob Dwyer scored two each for Coping Badly while James mealy scored a brace for Substandard.

Lennons Lemons and Crystal Falice served up a cracker of a match during which both sides scored some spectacular goals. Con Creedon and Bryan Cahill scored two beauties for Falice while Pierce Warren and Bryan Cahill returned the favour for The Lemons. When the score was tied at 3-3 late in the match it was Justin Banks who notched the winner for the Lemons to give the Carrigaline lads a 4-3 win.

O' Gorman Wins It For Baggios

 Division 2

Alan O’Gorman’s classy last minute finish keeps the Baggios 100% record and at the summit of division 2. This win over a dogged and improving Hit or Miss side should prove to be a very valuable 3 points as the season progresses. Jody Sinnot and Jurgen were best for Hit or Miss who were a bit unlucky to finish on the losing side but O’Gorman’s strike when the game was tied at 2-2 was worthy enough to win any game.

Balaga Tonga had another good win over Nualight. The final score in this very attacking game, finished at 6-4. An impressive performance from midfielder Joe Dempsey and some slick finishing from Philip Sweetman help Balaga to edge the 3 points.

Douglas Mortgage also stand on 9 points after 3 games, after their win over CUH. Jim Walsh now deployed between the sticks for Douglas made some excellent saves and keeps them level at the top with the Baggios.

Novartis had a big win over the Avengers, with Ivan Murphy pulling all the strings for them in midfield and setting up several goals.

Division 3

Substandard Liege look like the real deal this season, and are the early season favourites to take this title. James Mealy and Gavin Tackaberry both scored a hatful of goals. One of Mealy’s goals was the highlight, after running the full lengths of the pitch, hitting the post and tapping in the rebound.

Crystal Fallace had a narrow win over Real Soso Bad, and FC Coping Badly had their first win of the season with a big victory over Dynamo Tonduff. Stuart Depuis and Martin Hallahan did most to contribute to their win.

Division 1

The Cuban Priests stay top of the pile here as they beat their big rivals Far From Athletic 4-2. Llyod Dorgan at centre forward for the Priests was a real handful for the Far From defence. Liam Hennessy was best for Far From who battled hard but his side are seriously missing the injured Darragh O’Regan.

The Tools had an excellent win over the Booze Crew and stay 3 points off the top. Shane McCarthy produced some excellent finishing and scored an impressive 4 goals against a strong Booze Crew side. Best for Booze Crew was Martin Deady who looks and excellent player.

Racing bagged their first points with a win 4-2 over the Chancers who had no answer to the energetic Edward Noonan. Jason O Connell was on the score sheet for the Chancers. A brace each from Noonan and Steve O Mahony were the Racing scorers.

Dramatic Win For EZY

Thursday Division 1

The Ex Pats Athletic, Ezy FC encounter was a thrilling match. Colin Farmer scored three magnificent goals for the Ex Pats while Steve Dwyer matched his tally for Ezy. Both goal keepers, Bill Henry for the Pats and Arthur O Shea for Ezy were also outstanding, but with five minutes to go it looked like Ezy would take the points when they went tw goals ahead. However The Pats closed the defecit and appeared to have salvaged a point. But the drama wasn’t over yet. Almost straight from the kick off Kevin Garde notched a winner for Ezy. The final score was 6-5 in favour of Ezy FC.

The Go With The Flow, Thirtysomethings match was a tough hard fought encounter. An early goal scored by Luca Gastoldi for The Thirtysomethings was all that separated the sides entering the final fifteen minutes. During this period Go With The Flow were pressing hard and had numberous chances either saved or off target. When John Duggan finally equalised with two minutes remaining it looked like the Passage lads had salvaged a draw. However their celebrations were short lived because Jake McAuliffe scored a fine winner with thirty seconds remaining to give The Thirtysomethings a 2-1 win.

The All Blacks have made a great start to the season and are now top of the table by virtue of their 4-2 win against The Hooligans. Both teams played some great ball but it was obvious from very early that The All Blacks were better organised and were more used to the format. New comers, The Hooligans have some very good players but got caught too far up the pitch at times which allowed The All Blacks a couple of two on ones in front of goal, which the easily converted. Niall Murphy was his usual commanding self in the middle of the pitch for the All Blacks while Aidan O Sullivan scored twice was always dangerous up front. Niall Kingston and Pat O Regan were in the mark for The Hooligans who will be a fine team when they get used to the 7 a side format.

Thursday Division 2

The Whitfords have started this season in the same vein that they finished last season. They had a fine 4-2 win against Men United this week. The first half was an evenly contested affair during which Cameron Espey of The Whitfords and Joe McCarthy of Men United exchanged goals. However The Whitfords dominated the second period. Their off the ball movement and ability to create space for each other was outstanding. Kevin O’ Connell, Jack Russell and Cameron Espey all scored for The Whitfords during this period while Padraig O Riordan replied with a fine long range effort for Men United.

The Sons of Pitches, Red Bull Anascaul match was thrilling encounter. The teams were deadlocked at 2-2  entering the final ten minutes when Diego Garcia scored a fine winner for The Pitches. Infact it was the Spaniard who scored all of the Pitches goals and was a constant thorn, or sword in the Red bull side. Nick McWade was also outstanding for The Bulls and scored a fine goal for his team.

Dillon O Brien was the difference between The JT Specials and Paniceastcork, as he scored three to give Paniceastcork a 3-0 win against JT Specials.

Athletico PTF were flatterd by their 3-0 win against Big Test Icles. Even though Big Test had a lot of possession and chances they failed to score. On the other hand, Athletico made the most of their chances and scored three fine goals through Ken O Connor, Paul Killeen and Ross O Riordan. Paul Killeen was outstanding in defence for the winners.

Great Start For The Priests

Wednesday Div 1

Footy Leagues got off to a bright start for the Summer season in the excellent weather. Cuban Priests also got off to a bright start in life in Division 1 when they beat a new look Racing Club side by 5-4. Llyod Dorgan excellent performance in midfield for the Priests proved decisive and he scored an impressive hatrick to help seal the 3 points. Mark Menton scored a brace for Racing who pushed the Priests all the way.

The Booze Crew look like early season favourites after their impressive demolition job on the Chancers. David Quigley, Andrew Doody and Ian  Stapleton were all in scoring mood and played some excellent football and look like they might be the team to beat if they can keep this side together for the Summer.

The Tools also played some great football as they opened their season with a 5-2 win over Far From Athletic. Ross McCarthy was best for the Tools who should also be contenders for the Division 1 title.

Wednesday Div 2

The ever improving Hit or Miss team also had a good start with a 6-3 win over Novartis. Danny Driscoll and Dan McSweeney were impressive for Hit or Miss who got off to a lucky start with a Novartis own goal.

The Baggios trounced newcomers the Avengers and top the table on goal difference.

Wayne O Callaghan scored 4 times and impressed along with the industrious Alan O’Gorman for the Baggios.

Douglas Mortgage also started with 3 points after beating Balaga Tonga 3-1. The experienced Jim Walsh led the way for Mortgage. Eoin Kennedy replied for Balaga.

Nualight and CUH played out a very entertaining 2 all draw. This division looks like it will be very tight and should go down to the wire.

Wednesday Div 3

Footy newcomers Lennons Lemmons and seasoned Footy campaigners

Dynamo Tonduff played the game of the week that finished in a 4 all draw. Justin Banks scored his 2^nd goal of the evening late in the game and the Lemmons thought they had sealed the 3 points until last seasons MVP winner Dave Murphy stepped up with a last gasp equaliser for Tonduff.

Paul Bartlett scored the goal of the week for the Average Joes as they beat Crystal Fallace bay the odd goal. Joe O Sullivan scored twice for the Joes.

James Mealy was in scoring mood for Sub Standard Liege as they trounced Real Soso Bad. If Liege can finally learn how to defend they will be favourites for this division as they have a very attacking team and are capable of scoring lots of goals.

A last minute goal from Alan Murray sealed a point for Reardons against FC Coping Badly. Philip Sweetman was best for Reardons and Martin Hallahane was man of the match after his Hatrick for Coping Badly
