CUH Go Joint Top Of Division 2

Wednesday Division 2
CUH were in outstanding form when they defeated the league leaders Far From Athletic 2-1 to go joint top. An O.G. and a Tom O Brien strike put the Wilton lads 2-0 up at the break. Wayne O Callaghan pulled a goal back for FFA early in the second half, however CUH held on for victory.
The match of the evening involved another hospital team, The Bons, who were opposing  Club Redz. This fixture resulted in another tight win for The Bons on a 4-3 score line. Jimmy Reardon scored three for The College Road lads.
Douglas mortgage returned to winning ways again this week with a fine 3-1 win over Sons of Pitches. After a dull first period, the encounter picked up in the second half, illuminated by the performance of Jerry O Reilly for the Pitches.
Rosies finally found the form that that made them so competitive for the last few seasons when they defeated Balaga Tonga 4-0. This fixture could have gone either way until Paddy Cronin scored a rocket from about 20 meters. This inspired Rosies and in the end they won quite easily.

Wednesday Division 3
After an evenly contested first half, the Average Joes dominated the second and defeated BNYM FC 4-1. The high light of this fixture was the spectacular free kick scored by Terry Jones of The Joes from 25 meters.
Hit and Miss are improving with every match. They stepped their performance up a notch again this week when they easily defeated the early league leader Barstoolona 6-1. Peter Sinnott and Dan Williams early goals set the tone.
Stephen Barry and Aidan Ryan scored a hat trick a piece for Boca Seniors as they easily defeated The Castlemartyres. Paul Hennessy was the man of the match for Boca while Jimmy Mellis and Brian Connell were on the mark for The Martyres.
Despite the heroics by Barry O Donovan in goal for Marys Ramblers, Substandard liege won this contest. The high light of the match was the the thunderbolt scored by Tony O Donovan – a volley direct from a throw in.
  
Wednesday Division 1
Despite scoring very early on and having the man of the match Liam Doyle among their ranks, O Donovans just couldn’t live with Racing Club. Chen was outstanding for Racing and scored 5 goals.
The QEF Global, Kids match was delicately balanced at 2-2 at half time. However The Kids took control in the second half and ran out easy winners. Eoghan Murphy was inspirational for the Ballinlough lads.
The Temple Inn easily defeated match.com 9-0 in a one sided affair. Kevin Garde scored four for Temple while Steve Dwyer was man of the match.
Pawel was in sparkling for the Refugees during their victory over Dynamo Tonduff. The concession of two very early goals didn’t help the Tonduff cause.

Thursday Division 2
The high light of this top of the table clash between The Net Busters and Bank of NY was the sweet strike by Gerald Guihan of Bank of NY for the opening goal. However this wasn’t enough to prevent The Net Buster from claiming the points in a very entertaining encounter that ended 7-5.
An outstanding last minute winner scored by Steve Riordan against The Flying Column earned JT Specials their first points of the season. A man of the match performance and a fine goal by Kieran McArtan couldn’t prevent The Specials from taking the spoils.
It looked like BNY United would move to within a point of the top of the league when Paul Creedon gave them a 3-2 lead towards the end of a very entertaining fixture against The Whitfords. However Cameron Espey denied them when he scored a bullet, the best of his three, to equalize with minutes remaining.
TA Sheehan were cruising at half time when they were leading Apple Exiles 2-0. In fact if it wasn’t for the heroics Apple goal keeper Sean Kenny, the encounter would have been decided at this point. It was a different story in the second half when Apple scored three to win by one.

Thursday Division 1
Despite leading twice the Bandits ended up on the wrong side of the 4-3 score line in an enthralling contest against Pity The Fool. Kieran Hetherington was man of the match while Eoin Barrett and Chris Dennehy scored 2 a piece for the winners. Shane Comerford and Ciaran O Brien stood out for the Bandits.
The Unknown Quantities demolished The Ex Pats 6-1 in this top of the table clash. Peter Fitzmaurice was immense at the back for the winners. Gordon Lynch also had a great innings and helped himself to an excellent hat trick.
Despite conceding an early goal, a six man United outfit defeated an out of sorts All Blacks 5-2. The high light of this match was the great goal scored by United goal keeper Cian Kennedy.
