The
Bobcats
suffered their first defeat of the season when they went down to AC
Standard, who produced their best performance of the season. Tim
O'Connor produced a master class in finishing as he scored 4 goals of
Standard's goals, 3 of which were of superb quality. Both O'Connor
and David Barry were excellent up front for AC and were strong on the
ball and were a constant menace to the Bobcats defence. 2 other
players stood out for the winners, Julius Leke was very efficient in
midfield and passed the ball well, while Niall Gannon was
very strong in defence. O'Connor scored 2 very similar goals either
side of half time to put his side in the driving seat, where both
times he turned his marker on the left wing and then hit the back of
the net with 2 great finishes, both from awkward
angles. His fourth was his
best goal, an
excellent volley again after another quick turn. Bobcats pushed hard
and had plenty of possession but AC defence stood up to all that was
thrown at them and they finished comfortable 7-4 winners.
Balaga Tongo also had a comfortable 4-1 win over Rosies in their make up game that was cancelled a few weeks ago. John Duggan was Balaga best player, not for the first time this season and ran the game from the middle of the park. Eoin Kennedy was again dangerous in front of goal and scored twice in the 2nd half to settle this tie. Derry Nagle and Alex Daly were Balaga's other goal scorers. Colin Murphy was on the mark for Rosies.Last Wednesday the Could Have Beens also gave their best display of the season as they beat Hit or Miss 9-4. Derek O'Brien, Ken Hourihan and man of the match Peadar Horgan were best for the Have Beens and scored a brace a piece. Cal O'Mahony and Mike Holland were also on the mark. This win moves them off the bottom of the table, although only on goal difference.Rosies lost out by the odd goal in nine to AC Standard who have now won 2 games on the bounce to move 3 points clear of Hit or Miss. A Julius Leke hatrick proving the difference between the 2 sides in a really tight game. Martin Higgins also scored a hatrick for Rosies, who should have got something from the game having been up 2-0 at the break.

Wednesday
Division 2
Nualight
edged closer again to winning this division when they beat Deportivo
4-0. Kieran Buckley and Mark Scanlon with 2 goals a piece, This game
was tight for 45 minutes until Scanlons two goals put them in
control. Buckley was again excellent for Nualight. Robbie
Doyle made some good saves in goal for Deportivo to keep the score
fairly respectable. Next Weeks top of the table clash is a crucial
tie in the title race with Nualight 6 points clear of CUH. Its a must
win game for CUH with time running out and only 4 games left.
Schuf
FC lost ground in the race for 2nd
place as they also went down 4-0 to CUH. The Wilton lads played some
excellent football and controlled the game after Cathal O'Sullivan
put them ahead after 10 minutes. The reliable poacher Ivan Weir was
on hand again to score twice. Rory Barry who is having a great season
for CUH was their other scorer. Schuf tried hard but lacked quality
on the night and did not hold the ball long enough to really threaten
CUH.
Johnny
Boys Utd comfortably overcame Dynamo Tonduff in a one sided 2nd
half when they ran in 5 goals. An injuiry to one of Tonduff's best
players clearly did not help their cause. Colm Walsh was best for
Johnny Boys and looks like an excellent player.
