JT Specials Unlucky to Loose To Sons Of Pitches

Thursday Division 1
Last seasons champions the All Blacks had a great result as they beat league leaders Ezy FC 3-2 and cut their lead at the top of the table to just 3 points. 2 decisive goals from Killian Hogan did the trick for the All Blacks in a very tight and hard fought game.
Steve Dwyer and Billy Lyons were Ezy’s goal scorers.
Apple Exiles continued their impressive improvement as they had a marvellous win over the Thirtysomethings. Apple who were 2 goals down inside the first minute, did really well to come back and win 4-2. The comeback led by the experienced Ronan Geary who scored the equaliser for Apple who had Gary Murphy and Terry Ryan also on target.
John Browne was top class in defence for Sliabh na mBan as they ousted the Boothouse Bingers by 7 goals to 3. The pick of the goals was a 20 yard volley from Joe McAuliffe, who was also Man of the Match. The Bingers would have been favourites over Sliabh na mBan, going into this game as they were 7 points clear of them, but na mBan have been finding some consistency of late and used their experience to great effect over the less organised Bingers.
Quintan Gambora made some top class saves in goal for the Bandits, but was only able to help his side to keep the scoreline respectable as they lost 3-1 to the Net Busters. Tim Crowley was impressive for The Net Busters as was Paul Sexton who has a great eye for a goal and was always a threat to the Bandits defence.

Thursday Division 2
It was a similar story in the game between O’Higgins FC and Panathieastcork, as Jimmy Hallihan was in tremendous form for the East Cork lads and made a succession of excellent saves to keep his side in with a chance until the final whistle. Sean O Neill was again O’Higgins’s best player and scored their 2 goals in a narrow 2-1 win that moves them into 2nd spot.
Men Utd had their 3rd win of the season and moved up to 5th spot as they beat the JT
Specials  4-2. Hungarian newcomer Zoltan was Men Utd’s best player and set up 2 of their goals. The evergreen Mick Ryan hit the net twice for United, who came from behind to and early Rob Carpenter strike for JT.
Ciaren McArtain was again the Flying Column’s top player as the beat Whitfords 2-0, scoring a brilliant free kick to set the Column on their way. Whitfords worked hard throughout but lacked penetration. The Column defence was well marshalled by Conor O’Mahony.
Meanwhile the Sons of Pitches stay in pole position, 4 points clear after a 2-0 win over Balaga Tonga. James McLaughlin scored a memorable goal for the Pitches, in an otherwise forgettable game.
