Wednesday
Division 1
Deportivo
and Albino Leffe battled out a classic game where both sides were
very evenly matched, that saw Deportivo win by the odd goal.
With
the score tied 3-3 at the break and the lead exchanging hands twice
in each half, this was a game neither side deserved to lose. But man
of the match Martin Hallahan popped up with a late winner for
Deportivo to make it 5-4. Colin Gurhy and Bernard Parkes both scored
a brace a piece for the winners as did Conor O'Reilly for Albino
Leffe.
Sliabh
na mBan and the Thirtysomethings played out another cracker that
ended all square, 3-3 the final score. Bill Henry was in superb
between the sticks for Standard and made several point blank saves to
keep his side in the game, before he was finally beaten by a late,
but excellent Joe McAuliffe strike for the equaliser. Tim O'Connor
was AC's top player and scored twice on the night and McAuliffe and
Colm O'Riordain were best for na mBan in a very entertaining game.
The
Baggios had just a little too much class in their side as they
overcame a dogged Dynamo Tonduff side that made the Baggios work hard
for the 3 points. Wayne O Callaghan scored twice and Darragh O'Regan
and Stephen O'Donovan scored the Baggios other goals as they pulled
away from Tonduff in the closing ten minutes, winning by a 4-2
scoreline. Dave Murphy did well for Tonduff and scored along with
Kevin Quirke.
Ezy
did not have it so easy against early on against Fritzl Palace but
still had enough to over come a hard working Palace side winning by
8-2. Ezy showed some clinical finishing especially in the 2nd
half, and especially from Andy O'Mahony. The very lively John Daly
was everywhere for Ezy and dominated midfield along with Steve Dwyer.
Sean Stack scored a brace for Palace.
Wednesday
Division 2
Roco
Risers maintained their 100% record with a good win 5-2 over Balaga
Tongo to maintain a two point gap at the top after 3 weeks. Next week
sees them come up against 2nd placed Missing FC, a game
that could be called a 6 pointer even at this early stage of the
season.
Andrew
Dorgan was star man for Roco and scored a hatrick. Balaga's best
players John Duggan and Eoin Kennedy replied for Tongo. Mark Murphy
scored 2 in the last 10 minutes to clinch the points for Roco, but
did not know much about his 2nd goal as it deflected off his back
after an excellent shot for Mike Holland.
Missing
FC had an excellent 6-2 win over the Angry Badgers. The Badgers who
have some fine players in their side but have yet to gel
together this season. The industrious Steve Sinnott was again tops for Missing as was their goalkeeper Paul Luxford who made
some excellent saves throughout the game. Jurgen Bukowski and Jody
Sinnott scored 2 a piece for the winners.
Schuff
FC recorded their 2nd
win of the season after a tough encounter with Rosies. Rosies led 1-0
at the break after an owl goal, but a cracking shot from Schuff 's
Aidan McGuinness from an almost impossible angle saw his side draw
level 10 minutes into the 2nd
half.
Another
excellent strike from Ian McCormack saw Schuff stretch their lead
only for John Bray to equalise for Rosies. Darren Lynch scored twice
late on for Schuff to clinch a hard earned but just about deserved 3
points to maintain third
spot
in the table
