Far From Defeat Strong Tools

Division 1
Far From Athletic produced their best ever Footy performance after they trounced a very strong Tools side. Pat O’Regan and then Liam Hennessy hit the Tools net with early left footed strikes that seemed to leave the Tools paralyzed, and they never recovered. Far From who seem to have dropped the long ball tactic are now real contenders for this division 1 title.
Celts and Racing Club played each other twice last week, and shared the 6 points on offer. 6-4 to the Celts on Wednesday but 6-2 to Racing Club on Thursday in a fixture that was cancelled earlier in the season. Padraig McGovern seems to have found his scoring touch again for Racing who are glad to have Edward Noonan back in their side. James McGuinness and Eric Cotter were excellent for the Celts in their Wednesday victory.
Robert Kriegal scored 5 times for Korona as they moved 5 points clear after they beat the Larrys 7-4 in a feisty encounter. Pawel Pciak was again excellent in midfield for the Polish lads but Kriegal’s finishing was deadly. Larry Lee and Stephen Kenny fought hardest for the Larrys.

Division 2
Douglas Mortgage had their first win on the season as they won by the odd goal in a 7 goal thriller. Jim Walsh was excellent between the sticks for Douglas saving 3 one on one’s before Derek O Mahoney hit a late winner.
Cain Lucey was the hero for the Cuban Priests as they beat 2nd placed CUH 2-1 in an excellent game. The Priests were one down with 3 minutes left when Lucey struck twice.
Joe Dempsey excelled for Balaga Tonga as they beat Nualight 4-2. Colin Ross hit a brace for Balaga and helped them to their 2nd win on the bounce.

Division 3
FC Coping Badly and Dynamo Tonduff played out a 3-3 thriller, a result that will suit league leaders M&P O Sullivans. Eugene Delaney made some crucial saves for Tonduff before Sean O Connell produced a piece of magic for the equaliser, flicking the ball over his and his opponents head, before turning to volley low into the net for a share of the spoils.
The improving Kurtz Wallopers had their 2nd win of the season as they were too strong for the Baggios. Jamie Cotter was best for the Wallopers in a 4-1 victory, and scored with a tremendous strike for the games highlight.
M&P’s had a 5-0 walkover over Real Soso Bad.

Division 4
The top of the table clash between Rosies and Fritzl Palace was a classic end to end game in which a Martin Higgins hatrick was the difference between the sides. The prolific striker now has 22 goals and only midway through the season. The Carrigaline boys used all their experience to hold their lead after some late pressure from Palace.
Sub Standard Liege produced a classy performance to beat the Average Joes. Chris Fitzgerald and James Mealy were in top form for Liege. But is was the Joe’s Wojtek who stole the limelight when he caught Liege’s keeper of his line with a beautiful chip over from his own half for the goal of the evening.
The Inbetweeners had their first Footy win when they beat Crystal Fallace 4-3. Ivan Skilington scored twice for the winners who were 3-2 down with 10 minutes to go before Willie Motherway and Dave Linehan scored with 2 late goals and sealed their first points.
